Bulldog Bulletin
HEARTLAND ELEMENTARY- week of March 1, 2026
THIS WEEK
Greetings from the Principal
HELLO Bulldog families!
Please see above for our dress up days scheduled for this week as we celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with Read Across America week.
I hope you and your family have had a chance to enjoy the sunshine this weekend and hopefully the weather cooperates and we only see rain tomorrow.
Mid terms went home last Monday. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher should you have any concerns or concerns. Mid terms were somewhat of a challenge this time since we had been out of school and some of the days were NTI. Let's continue to work together to instill strong work habits so students can show their academic growth both at school and at home. We are on the down hill part of the school year, so we are working hard to get students on their respective grade level and get them ready for the next grade. We need your help and support!
Here are our reminders to help us keep the momentum going as we have a few weeks left until Spring Break:
1. Students should be practicing their math facts (all grade levels) for a few minutes each night. This keeps their minds sharp and helps with retaining those facts.
2. Students should also be reading a few minutes every night to help with fluency. Make sure to ask them some questions like who are the main characters or what was your favorite part to help with their comprehension.
3. VERY IMPORTANT--- Students must be in their classrooms by 7:30AM. If your child is dropped off in the morning, please make sure to be in the car line a few minutes early to ensure they get in the school on time. We average 180 car drop offs in the morning, so please make sure you give yourself time to get your child dropped off in time.
4. VERY IMPORTANT--- FLU B is in all the schools and unfortunately, we have see some cases at HES. If your child has a fever over 100 or has been throwing up PLEASE make sure they stay home until they have been fever free with out medicine and they have gone 24 hours without throwing up. This will help from spreading the germs. This is a district guideline and can be found in our handbook.
If you have other questions or need additional information, please click on the link at the end of this newsletter for our Parent/student handbook, or feel free to call our office or email us.
Have a great week everyone!
Respectfully,
Emily Campbell
Principal
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PTO
THE READ-A-THON IS ON!!
To kick off Read Across America week, we are excited to hold our annual Read-A-Thon. The student that reads the most minutes in each grade level will receive a special prize, the class that collects the highest total dollar amount will receive their choice of treat, and EVERY student that logs at least 60 minutes will receive a bonus item AND 10 extra Bulldog Points to use at the next store. The best part is that the funds raised will help support our school!
If we can reach the goal of 30,000 minutes school wide, students will earn a PJ day PLUS if we can reach that goal Mrs. Campbell is going to announce a surprise reward that students are not going to want to miss!
We have several projects we are working to fund along with the many things PTO currently funds. If you would like to hear about everything we have coming up please do not hesitate to join us for our next PTO meeting.
Stay tuned for information about an upcoming dance and our Spring Carnival!
