Curriculum
Creative Curriculum Objective #9- Use language to express thoughts and needs. 9a. Uses an expanding expressive vocabulary.
At Bright Futures, we know that language is the key to learning! Our preschoolers are exploring ways to use words to express their thoughts, feelings, and needs. Through songs, stories, dramatic play, and daily conversations, children are growing their expressive vocabulary—learning not just what to say, but how to say it. Every new word they use helps them communicate more clearly, connect with others, and gain confidence in sharing their ideas.
Fun Ways to Support Vocabulary at Home:
Talk Through Daily Routines: Narrate what you’re doing and encourage your child to describe what they see or do.
Play Word Games: Try “I Spy,” rhyming games, or make up silly sentences together.
Read and Chat: Ask questions about the story and encourage your child to explain in their own words.
Dramatic Play: Pretend to be chefs, astronauts, or shopkeepers, and use new words for objects, actions, and feelings.
Label the World: Point out and name things in your environment—at the park, grocery store, or even around the house.
Every little conversation helps your child use words to express themselves and grow their confidence!
