Newham Cricket Champions

A fantastic performance from the Under-15 cricket team at the Lister Hard Ball Cricket Tournament, held at Brampton Manor School. Blessed with beautiful sunshine throughout the day, the tournament provided the perfect setting for an exciting display of cricket.

Lister remained undefeated throughout the competition, producing a series of outstanding performances with both bat and ball. The team showed excellent determination in every match, taking crucial wickets, holding impressive catches, and playing confident, composed innings under pressure. Several close contests highlighted the team's resilience and ability to work together, while dominant victories showcased their skill, preparation, and tactical awareness.

As the day progressed, the players maintained their focus and energy despite the long schedule, consistently rising to the challenge and delivering when it mattered most. Their teamwork, communication, and positive attitude were evident in every game, helping them secure victory after victory on their way to becoming tournament champions.

Equally impressive was their behaviour and sportsmanship throughout the event. They represented our school with maturity, respect, and humility, supporting teammates, applauding opponents, and demonstrating the values that make Lister proud.

We are incredibly proud to be crowned Newham champions and congratulate every student involved on an excellent achievement. Well done to everyone involved! Lister Cricket #alwaysaimingforexcellence

Oval Trip: Lister Cricket Team Meeting International Stars

We recently visited the iconic The Oval for an unforgettable trip that will live long in the memories of our students. Bathed in warm sunshine and set against the backdrop of one of cricket's most historic venues, the day provided a unique opportunity to experience the game at the highest level. The immaculate green outfield, the perfectly prepared wicket, and the atmosphere created by thousands of passionate supporters made for a truly special occasion.

Students were thrilled to watch professional cricket up close, witnessing the skill, athleticism, and intensity of the game from a perspective rarely experienced. They enjoyed seeing powerful batting displays, precise bowling spells, and outstanding fielding performances as the action unfolded throughout the day. Every boundary was met with excitement, while wickets and moments of individual brilliance showcased the quality of cricket on display.

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to meet a number of international cricket stars, including Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Ollie Pope, Rory Burns, Reece Topley, Matthew Fisher, and Jordan Clark. Students were delighted to meet their sporting heroes, ask questions, collect autographs, and gain valuable insights into the dedication and hard work required to succeed in professional sport.

An especially memorable moment came during the interval when students were invited onto the famous Oval pitch itself. Walking across the same surface that has hosted some of cricket's greatest players and most historic matches was an incredible experience. Standing in the centre of such a renowned venue gave students a real appreciation of the history and prestige associated with the ground.

The combination of beautiful weather, world-class cricket, and the opportunity to meet professional players made this an exciting and inspiring day from start to finish. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that deepened students' love of the game and created memories that they will cherish for years to come.

Celebrating the Impact of Our Student Leaders

Since taking on their leadership roles, our Student Leaders have made an outstanding contribution to school life and have embraced the responsibilities of the position with maturity, enthusiasm, and dedication.

Throughout the year, they have consistently demonstrated the values that define our Lister community. Whether representing the school at events, supporting younger students, leading initiatives, or acting as ambassadors for student voice, they have shown commitment, integrity, and respect in all that they do. Their positive influence has helped to foster a culture where students feel supported, included, and encouraged to achieve their best.

Our Student Leaders have led by example, setting high standards in their conduct, attendance, effort, and attitude to learning. They have approached every opportunity with professionalism and have shown a willingness to take on new challenges, understanding that leadership is built through service, responsibility, and teamwork.

Most importantly, they have embodied Lister's commitment to excellence. By continually striving to improve, encouraging others to succeed, and taking pride in their responsibilities, they have demonstrated what it means to be leaders within our school community. Their dedication to achieving the highest standards has inspired those around them and reinforced our shared belief that excellence is not a destination but a continuous pursuit.

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished so far and look forward to seeing the continued impact they will have as they further develop their leadership skills and contribute to the ongoing success of our school.

Year 11 Prom Celebration 2026

On the evening of 25th June, Lister Community School proudly hosted a spectacular Year 11 Prom, providing a memorable celebration of our students' achievements and marking the end of an important chapter in their school journey.

The venue was transformed into a stunning setting, filled with sparkling lights, elegant decorations, and colourful balloons that created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. As students arrived, they were greeted by friends, staff, and families, all eager to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2026.

Students looked incredible in their glamorous outfits, with elegant dresses, smart suits, and stylish attire making the evening feel truly special. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the occasion, taking photographs with friends, and reflecting on the many memories they have created during their time at Lister.

Throughout the evening, students enjoyed a variety of delicious food and refreshments while socialising and celebrating together. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, laughter, and pride as students shared stories, danced, and enjoyed one final event as a year group.

The prom was not only a celebration of the end of Year 11 but also an opportunity to recognise the hard work, resilience, and achievements our students have demonstrated throughout their time at Lister. From academic success and personal growth to contributions in sport, the arts, leadership, and the wider school community, our Year 11 students have much to be proud of.

We would like to thank all staff who helped organise the event and ensure the evening ran so smoothly. Most importantly, we congratulate our Year 11 students on all they have accomplished and wish them every success as they embark on the next stage of their education and future careers.

It was a truly memorable evening and a fitting celebration of a remarkable year group. (In the picture you see the year 11 team, Mr Mullard and Ms Rahman, who took the year 11 along on their remarkable journey representing the whole of the staff and students in their fabulous attire).

Year 6 Induction Days

As we say farewell to our Year 11 students and celebrate the end of their journey at Lister, we are also looking forward to welcoming the next generation of Lister students. Our Year 6 Induction Days will take place on 2nd and 3rd July, providing pupils joining us in September with an exciting opportunity to experience life at secondary school and begin their transition to Lister Community School.

During the induction programme, students will meet their new teachers and classmates, explore the school site, and take part in a range of lessons and activities designed to help them feel confident and prepared for September. These two days are an important part of the transition process, allowing pupils to familiarise themselves with their new environment, learn about expectations, and start building the friendships and routines that will support them throughout their secondary school journey.

A small number of students will also be invited to attend an additional transition day on 1st July. Please note that this session is by invitation only, and families of selected pupils will be contacted directly with further details.

We are excited to welcome our future Lister students and look forward to helping them make a positive and successful start to the next stage of their education.
