🐾 A Quick Reminder About Dogs
We all love our furry friends! For the safety of our students and families, please keep dogs off of school property during arrival and dismissal. We cannot always know how a dog will respond around large groups of children, so this helps us ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable.
Thank you for helping us keep our Huskies safe! 🐾
iReady Testing This Week
iReady Testing Begins this week:
Students in grades K-5 will take the Fall iReady benchmark starting the week of August 31st. Please ensure your child gets enough rest each night, eats a nutritious breakfast, and comes to school with a fully charged Chromebook and working headphones.
Indian Prairie School District 204 administers i-Ready benchmark assessments in the fall, winter, and spring to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The i-Ready assessments evaluate student academic performance and growth in the areas of reading and mathematics. i-Ready is an online, computer-adaptive test that matches the difficulty of test questions to the proficiency level of each student. As students answer questions correctly, they will get more difficult questions. As students answer questions incorrectly, they will get easier questions. The assessment adapts to find the precise proficiency level of each student in the quickest, most efficient way possible. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. Many students will see material teachers haven’t taught. This is an intentional part of the design of the adaptive assessment. Students may see above-grade level material and below-grade level material. The assessment is designed for students to get about 50% of the questions correct and 50% incorrect to help identify their proficiency on a range of skills in reading and math.
Individual student scores will be available through ParentVue on Friday, October 9th. The assessment results are used by teachers and administrators to understand students' growth and assist with instructional planning and differentiation at the grade, classroom, and student level.
Snack
Please remember to send a fresh fruit or vegetable with your child for snack. We have many students with severe allergies and this helps ensure they are safe within our classrooms.
4th and 5th grade Chorus sign-up is open!
The Spring Brook Singers are a 4th and 5th grade combined chorus (choir) that rehearses on Thursday mornings before school and performs several concerts and assemblies throughout the school year. Choir is a great way to learn more about using your singing voice, meet new friends, and start the day off right! If you are interested in signing up your 4th or 5th grader, submit this GOOGLE FORM by Friday, 9-11. Further questions? Contact Mr. Duym at adam_duym@ipsd.org.
