Principal's Message

Dear Mulino Families,

Thank you to all of our families for your continued support and dedication as we work to ensure our mission of "Success for all Students" is at the forefront of all we do at Mulino. This mission is evident throughout our building from the morning meetings students are participating in to the differentiated instruction in our classrooms.

1st-5th grade students have been participating in the iReady diagnostic assessment this week in math. iReady is an important tool to help your student’s teacher know their strengths and areas of growth. The iReady program uses the data from these diagnostics to design an individualized menu of lessons to address specific areas for each student.

In the coming weeks, your student’s teachers will share their fall diagnostic scores with you. If you’d like more information about iReady view the iReady parent guides.

About Hispanic Heritage Month

We celebrate Hispanic Heritage to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic Americans who have inspired others to achieve success. Hispanic Heritage refers to a person who is from or a descendant of someone from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central, and South America.

Fun Facts

  • It expanded thanks to President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to make it a month-long celebration and was enacted into law
  • Mid-September marks the anniversary that many Spanish-speaking countries gained independence

Notable Hispanic Figures

  • Rita Moreno – is an actress from Puerto Rico and one of the few performers to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award, making her an “EGOT”
  • Cesar Chavez - was a Mexican American labor leader and civil rights activist who dedicated his life’s work to what to the struggle of farm workers to improve their working and living conditions

Lions Vision Screening

Our students will have a vision screening done this week. This will be completed by Lions and parent volunteers. Once we have the results back parents will be notified of any irregular results so they can follow up with their child's doctor for a more thorough vision screening.
