Hyatt's October Updates
2026-2027
Hello Hyatt Families!
What a fantastic start to the school year! Thank you for the energy, enthusiasm, and partnership you bring to our school every day. Your involvement is key to creating a nurturing, positive space where our students can learn, grow, and reach their full potential together.
We have an exciting lineup planned for the coming months, packed with enriched learning experiences, meaningful community service opportunities, and fun events for the whole family. A huge thank you goes to our supportive school families and our dedicated PALS group for helping bring these special moments to life.
You will find this month’s updates and key details outlined below. We encourage you to stay connected, get involved whenever you can, and reach out anytime with questions!
Count Day - October 7th!
Student attendance on Count Day directly determines our state funding for classroom resources, staffing, and programs. Please help us by making sure your child is at school on time and stays for the full day. If your child is sick, please call the office to report the absence. Thank you for your support!
Scholastic Book Fair October 12th - 15th
Get ready to inspire your young readers! Our Scholastic Book Fair will take place from October 12th through October 15th.
In-School Shopping: Students will visit and shop the fair during their regularly scheduled library days.
Go Cash-Free with eWallet: To avoid sending cash or checks to school, set up a digital eWallet for your child! You can load money directly into their account so they can shop safely at school. Family and friends can also add funds to your student's eWallet.
Shop & Browse Online: Families and friends can view book options, preview titles, and make online purchases directly through our fair link.

Attendance Matters
While we completely support quality family time and understand that illness, family obligations, or trips will occasionally pop up, consistent attendance remains the single most critical factor in your child’s success. Developing strong attendance routines at a young age sets students up for lifelong achievement and well-being. Most of all, we simply love having your children with us every day! They bring our classrooms to life by adding to discussions, deepening each other's learning, and creating the warm community that makes Hyatt Elementary so special.
As in past years, attendance update letters are emailed to families to ensure accurate record-keeping and open communication. If you ever receive an update or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Halloween Festivities - Friday, October 30th
Halloween Planning
It's hard to believe we're already planning for Halloween! We are looking forward to a great day with our students on Friday, October 30th. Below are a few reminders to keep everyone in the loop:
Costume Guidelines: Students may wear their costumes to school. Please leave toy weapons at home, and save face paint for trick-or-treating after school to prevent skin irritation during the day.
Classroom Celebrations: Teachers will send out information about their individual party plans. If sending in treats, please ensure they are store-bought due to food allergies.
Costume Parade: Join us at 2:45 PM for our parade! Families are welcome to take photos. We will share the exact parade route closer to the date once we check the weather.
Early Departure: If you choose to take your child home after the parade, please be sure to sign them out with your child's teacher or at the office.
Thank you for your help in making this a fun and safe celebration! Reach out to your child's teacher or the office anytime with questions.

News from Officer Williams
Dear Linden Elementary and Hyatt Families,
As Officer Williams, one of my top priorities is keeping our students safe both at school and in our community. With the school year in full swing, I know many of you are capturing and sharing wonderful photos of your children. Sharing these milestones with friends and family is a wonderful tradition, and with just a few quick safety steps, you can keep those memories special and secure.
Here are a few quick tips to keep in mind before pressing "post":
Scan the Background: Double-check what’s visible behind your child. Try to avoid showing house numbers, street signs, home addresses, or distinct neighborhood landmarks that identify where you live.
Delay Your Posts: If a photo is taken at the bus stop or on school grounds, consider waiting until later in the day to share it. Posting in real time reveals your child’s exact location at that moment.
Check Privacy & Tagging: Ensure your social media accounts are set to private and visible only to trusted friends and family, rather than the public. It's also a good idea to turn off automatic location tagging.
Remember the "Forward" Factor: While privacy settings offer great protection, keep in mind that photos can still be saved, screenshotted, or shared by others once posted online.
Our goal is never to stop families from celebrating these precious moments! A few small precautions go a long way in protecting your child's personal information while still letting loved ones enjoy their milestone photos.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community safe. We hope all of our Linden Elementary and Hyatt students have a safe, successful, and fun school year!

News from Nurse Loynes
Nurse Danielle Loynes is hard at work keeping the children of Hyatt Elementary safe and healthy every day. From caring for little injuries to managing health plans, she’s always here to support our students and help them thrive!
Health and Wellness
We are beginning to approach the cold and flu season, so please remind your children the importance of washing their hands, trying to keep their hands off their faces, covering their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and not sharing their food with others. These are proven strategies to reducing the spread of illness. Remember, a child with a fever or who is physically ill must stay home for at least 24 hours and be symptom free without medication before returning to school.
Also, as classroom parties are on the horizon, please remain cognizant of student allergies in your child’s classroom. Due to the severity of the reactions to some allergies we ask that all snacks, treats, are store purchased. If your child exhibits any symptom, you will be called to pick your child up from school.
Visitors and Volunteers
Passes for visitors and volunteers are available in the office and provided once you have signed-in and should be worn at all times. This supports identification and supports building supervision. Appointments may be initiated by the parent or guardian and/or the school.
Volunteering at Hyatt Elementary is encouraged, as your time and efforts are greatly appreciated! All volunteers must have a background check completed before they may volunteer. If you are wanting to volunteer, you can pick up an ICHAT form in the office or click on the link below. Forms must be competed for each semester of the school year. Please remember photographs of other children are not permitted. If you have any questions or concerns, please share them with a staff member.
Communications and Alerts
Hyatt Elementary utilizes our website as a means of communication. Please visit our web page regularly at www.lindenschools.org. In addition to our web page, you can download the Linden Community Schools APP from your smartphone to receive updates and reminders. We will also use email and text messaging. You may contact your child’s teacher by email, telephone, or letter if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s education or classroom activities.
