Thank you for your partnership in supporting our students!
'Parents as Partners' form due now
This feedback prepares for Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first Parent-Teacher Conferences of the year are October 14 and 15 and will focus on “planning for success.”
Conferences are a collaborative process between parents/guardians and classroom teacher. The Parents as Partners questionnaire can inform the goal setting process alongside other information collected in the fall.
In order to make the process meaningful and productive, we request that you complete the Parents as Partners 2026-27 form:
Log into Parent Portal
Click Forms in the left navigation menu
Click on the General Tab, click on “Parents as Partners 2026-27” form
This information will help your child’s teacher better plan for your child’s success. Goals (academic and/or social) will be set together, keeping your child’s individual needs in mind.
If you missed the deadline earlier this month please submit the form today. Thank you for being our partner in education.
Dive deeper into Digital Citizenship
Our Wescott students are shaped by the Digital Citizenship they are learning right now in our One-to-One iPad Program. Today, watch the fourth video in our series here or by clicking below, which continues exploring how Digital Citizenship lessons guide students' online safety and ethics.
You can also click here to explore a parent handbook that also answers frequent questions on our One-to-One iPad Program. Next week, please watch this newsletter for the final video in the series.
Assessment scores available today
Fire drill recap
Wescott students and staff participated in our first fire drill today, September 25 and it went exceptionally well. Practicing our emergency procedures ensures that we are well-prepared in the event of a real emergency. We’re proud of how seriously our students and staff approach these situations, and we appreciate your continued support in reinforcing the importance of safety.
For parents of bus riders
First Student, which provides bus service for District 30, offers a bus tracking app for smartphones called First View that is now available. Additionally, this app provides communications regarding delays and/or important reminders.
You may download the app on your smartphone by searching "First View." When setting up, you will be prompted to:
- Enter the District Code B9P4M
- Enter your student’s ID number (available in the Parent Portal)
- Enter your student's last name.
For First View customer support, contact them at 888-889-8920 or support@firstview.com.
Social-emotional screenings start Sept. 28
During the week of September 28, classroom teachers will complete the fall SAEBRs screening to help identify students’ social-emotional strengths and areas where additional support may be beneficial. Students in grades 4 and 5 will also complete the MySAEBRs student survey on their iPads. School teams will review the results to help plan counseling and other student supports. Teachers will share relevant information with families when appropriate.
April 2027 elections for Board of Education
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2027. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2031.
Candidates for the office of the school board can begin circulating nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from November 16-23, 2026.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website.
Candidates may also want to consult the “2027 Candidate’s Guide,” which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.
Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Friday, October 16. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus' role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Caucus, please contact Katie.
