MAP Growth Reports - Coming home Tomorrow MAP Growth Reports - Coming home Tomorrow

Students will be bringing home their latest NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Growth Reports tomorrow.

These reports provide valuable data regarding your child’s academic progress in Reading and Mathematics. Unlike traditional tests that provide a snapshot of what a student knows at one specific time, the MAP Growth Report tracks your child’s individual progress and achievement throughout the school year.

What to look for:

  • Individual Growth: See how much progress your child has made since the fall.

  • Instructional Areas: Identify specific strengths and areas where your child may need additional support.

  • Goal Setting: Teachers use these results to support instruction to meet your child's academic needs.

We encourage you to review the report with your child and celebrate their hard work and progress! If you have specific questions regarding the data or how it is used in the classroom, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher.

Pop Tab War - Continues until Friday, Feb 6th Pop Tab War - Continues until Friday, Feb 6th

The pop Tab War to support the Ronald McDonald House continues until Friday, Feb 6th. By simply saving the aluminum tabs from your soda, sparkling water, or other items, you can help provide a "home away from home" for families with children receiving medical treatment.

SOUPer Bowl Fundraiser - Continues until Friday, Feb 6th SOUPer Bowl Fundraiser - Continues until Friday, Feb 6th

The Student Council SOUPer Bowl Fundraiser continues until Friday, Feb 6th. Whether you're rooting for a specific team or just want to support a great cause, every donation makes a difference!

Tomorrow is the deadline for students to earn Accelerated Reader points and receive an invite to AR Night Out.

  • Grades 1–3: Must earn 25 or more AR points

  • Grades 4–5: Must earn 50 or more AR points

The AR Night Out event is scheduled for February 11th.

Junior Achievement Junior Achievement

We are thrilled to announce that next Friday morning, DuJardin Elementary will be hosting Junior Achievement Day! This special event helps our students explore the world of work, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship through interactive, age-appropriate activities.

To make the morning even more special, students from Lake Park High School will be visiting our classrooms to serve as instructors. Our students will participate in various lessons depending on their grade level.

We love seeing our local "big kids" from Lake Park mentoring our students and serving as role models. It’s going to be a morning filled with learning, collaboration, and community spirit!

The Shining Star Award The Shining Star Award

One of the most critical roles in Bloomingdale School District 13 is the paraprofessional. These individuals support instruction from within the classroom, can be directly assigned to students whose goals are outlined on an Individual Education Plan, and, in many cases, are the source of substitute teaching in each building. They supervise lunch and busses, deliver curriculum under the teacher's supervision, and are often the ones helping calm down and dry the tears of children.

With the Shining Star Award, District 13 wants to recognize the work of this group of employees through the special work and support they provide daily. If you as a staff member, or you as a parent through your child have had a wonderful experience working with a paraprofessional, please take the time to complete this brief form to nominate them for this recognition. A couple of times a year, nominees will be selected by a group comprised of school board members, staff, and administration based on the impact the paraprofessional has had through the description you provide.

Required Health Forms for the upcoming school year:

  • Kindergarten: Physical, Dental, & Vision
  • 2nd Grade: Dental
  • Health Office Website

Student Needs:

  • Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.

About Your Student’s Medication:

  • The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.

  • If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.

Excused Physical Education Class:

  • Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.

Calls home from the Nurse:

  • Phone calls home are warranted in the event of a head injury, minor or major

  • All in school sickness including fever of 100.4 (oral) or greater, vomiting and/or diarrhea
