1. Welcome to the 26-27 ACT Testing Newsletter!
Hello 11th Grade Students and parents/guardians!
All 11th grade students will be required to take the ACT and the AzSCI tests.
Our mandatory ACT State Test will be held in March/April 2027. Your exact date, time, and location will be emailed to student emails at least a month before testing (Learning Coaches received a copy).
Please keep in mind that there is no “Opt-Out” for State Testing 2027. Both ACT and AzSCI are required by the state and must be completed in person. Per the Arizona Department of Education
Arizona does not have any exemptions from participating in these assessments. Statewide Assessments are required by State and Federal Law. (State Law: ARS 15-741; Federal Law: 34 CFR 200.2 Participation in Assessments).
2. What to Know About the ACT
What is the ACT?
The ACT is a state-required assessment for all students in the 2028 cohort. Students can choose to use their scores for college/scholarship purposes. However, even students who do not plan to continue with higher education are still required to participate.
- Subjects Tested:
- English, Reading, Math, Science, and Writing
- Length:
- The test will take approximately 4 hours and will be completed in one day. This is a timed test with a very strict timing code that must be followed.
What to Bring:
- Water, a snack, and a jacket.
- Students will need a valid ID. (Don't have an ID? See the section below-titled ID Requirements for ACT)
ACT vs. AzSCI:
It is important to note that the ACT and the AzSCI are two DIFFERENT assessments that 11th-grade students are required to take! 11th graders will have the option to stay after the ACT and complete the AzSCI OR they can reschedule to return on a different testing day to complete the AzSci.
