Fall Festivities and Poetry Readings

Our Kindergarten students celebrated the Thanksgiving Holiday with crafts and snacks for all. Parents were invited in to help with centers in Ms. Supowitz’s and Mrs. McMahon's kindergarten classes. Centers included cookie decorating, art, and language arts activities. Children enjoyed working together and creating artifacts to take home and share with their families.

Please enjoy some of our highlights !!

FIRST GRADE-Poetry Feast

Mrs. Flynn’s first grade class enjoyed sharing Thanksgiving poems they were working on together as a class. Students were working on their fluency and choral reading as they shared poems in small groups to the families. Parents were invited in to listen to the poetry and then everyone enjoyed homemade apple and pumpkin pie students made by hand themselves earlier in the day. It was a feast for all!

Parent Visits During American Education Week

Our school welcomed families of the Schweitzer community to classrooms during American Education Week. The research continues to indicate the importance and value of a home/school partnership. Effective schools have high levels of parental and community involvement. This involvement is strongly related to improved student learning, attendance, and behavior. We appreciate your willingness to join in our effort in making Schweitzer a caring and supportive community for our students!

Officer Robison from Middletown Twp. Police is Guest Expert!

Officer Melissa Robison visited Mrs. McHugh's kindergarten class as a guest speaker for their social studies unit they're doing on 'My Neighborhood.' The class is participating in a project-based learning activity that requires them to understand and learn about their neighborhood, learn how they are a part of their neighborhood, and make connections to people and things in their neighborhood. Officer Robison came in as a guest expert to talk about her role as a police officer and how she helps the local community. Students were also encouraged to be a helper in the community and the class talked about ways they can support their community as Schweitzer students.
