Hey Team Northwood!

Can you believe it’s already been 3 weeks of school? Be sure to log in to Skyward to check your child’s grades and see how the season’s starting out. We are really getting into the routines and starting some great learning.

This week and next our students will be taking their MAP tests (Measure of Academic Progress). Please help your child arrive on time, well-rested, and ready to give their best effort.

MAP testing is an important tool that helps teachers understand where each student is in their learning journey. The results give us valuable information to guide instruction, set goals, and celebrate growth. We take these tests at the beginning, middle and end of the school year.

We’ve got a busy (and exciting!) week ahead with some special events too:

  • Parent Orientation is this week – check out the flyer below for the game plan.

  • Picture Day is Friday – time to put on those winning smiles!

  • School Holiday on Monday – enjoy the long weekend and rest up, teammates!

  • And more...read everything below to find out all of the details!

Thanks for being such an important part of our team—we couldn’t do it without you!

— Mrs. Harper

School Lunch

We have a wonderful cafeteria that serves breakfast and lunch daily. This year meals are provided at no charge to ALL students as part of the Community Eligibility Program. In order for us to keep this service, all families need to provide household income information. You will be receiving a text message (sent to the primary guardian listed in skyward) asking you to compete a very short survey. This information is confidential and not seen by school staff. We need 100% participation, so please take a moment to complete this form when you receive it.

If your child wants "extras" beyond the regular school tray, you need to add money to their cafeteria account by visiting schoolcafe.com or sending in a check or cash.

Visitors to Campus

All visitors to campus will be required to present an ID and receive a visitors badge through the Raptor system in order to come into the building during the school day. This includes on the first day of school. We understand that this may not be convenient, but it is necessary in order to ensure safety.

School Absences

Our goal is for all of our students to maintain outstanding attendance (at least 95%).

The best way to learn is by being present at school and on time, ready to learn at 7:25 am every day! If your child needs to be absent due to illness, please be sure to send a note to school the day they return explaining the reason for the absence. Absences for illness and medical appointments will be excused with a written note. A student can have no more than 18 absences in order to recieve credit for the course/grade level.
