Principal Updates
Greetings, Radloff Families,
Our preparations continued this week. We welcomed teachers back into the building on Thursday, July 24th. This provided us time to celebrate, fellowship and commit to some instructional priorities. As mentioned in the previous newsletter our theme is Mustangs--Read, Write, Discuss & Lead. Therefore elements of this theme will be woven throughout daily lessons. We will prioritize the following instructional actions:
- Instructional Access--designing and delivering instruction within a supportive, scaffolded framework so that more scholars can access the content
- Instructional Assessment--ensuring that scholars and teachers have a clear view of what scholars know and do not know based on the curriculum standards. We will continue to give daily fast formatives and shift to Standards-Based Grading and team-based KidTalks.
- Instructional Response--Using the assessment to launch teacher-guided small groups
- Instructional Conversations--expand peer-to-peer discussions throughout all of our content classrooms
We look forward to seeing all families on Wednesday, July 30th for Open House. We plan to have several vendors on campus to enhance your Open House experience. For any family that has proof of residency concerns to resolve and have received communication about this, please handle these things before Open House occur. We want you experience to be as smooth as possible so we encourage you to handle lingering things before Wednesday. We can't wait to see you and your scholars!
NEW NOTE: Absent Note Update
While we encourage students to be present each and every day so that they can maximize their learning experience and expand their future options, we know that sometimes absences may be unavoidable. Therefore, we wanted you to know that for the 2025-2026 school year, families will be able to provide attendance notes/documentation for students through ParentVUE. More information is available on the GCPS website:
- See Instruction Link Here: family instructions.
NEW NOTE: Evolv Weapons Detections in GCPS schools
Starting this fall, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will begin installing the Evolv weapons detection system at all middle and high schools as part of our continued commitment to student and staff safety.
Evolv is an advanced detection system that uses low-frequency electromagnetic fields and smart software to identify potential weapons like firearms—without the delays caused by traditional metal detectors. Our experience with Evolv has thus far been a positive one. The system was successfully piloted at GCPS stadiums and gyms during the 2024–25 school year and this summer at our high school summer school sites.
Installation of the Evolv systems in our schools will occur on a staggered schedule. Radloff is scheduled to receive the systems sometime during second semester. This means that we will not have the Evolv systems in place when students return. This is a large project for the school district, and we are grateful to know that we will have an additional layer of security equipment within our building. We recognize that this system will require that we change some of our current arrival and transition processes, and we thank you in advance for your patience and adaptability as we make these shifts.

Please re-enforce this procedure with your scholars. Phone are not permitted to be on the students. They are to be off and and away within their bookbags. Please explore the link to learn more about the rationale for this procedure.

Radloff Middle School Daily Class Schedule
Important: School Attendance
Dear Families,
As we begin a new school year, we're excited to welcome your scholar back and look forward to a successful year of learning and growth. One of the most important ways you can support your scholars success is by making sure they come to school every day, on time.
When students miss too many days - whether it's a few here or there or several in a row - they can quickly fall behind in their learning. Even just two days a month adds up and can make it harder for your child to keep up with classmates, stay confident, and feel connect at school.
Good attendance helps your child do well in school now and builds strong habits for the future. If you're facing challenges that make it hard for your child to get to school, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to help.
If your scholar needs to miss school for any reason, please contact their homeroom teacher as soon as possible. When students are out, they do miss valuable instruction and classroom activities. Notifying the teacher allows us to prepare and support your scholar in catching up when they return.
Thank you for partnering with us to make this a great year!
Smooth the Move to Middle School
If your student is starting middle school this fall, your help is important to make the move smooth. Make sure your student starts the school day well-rested, fed and ready to learn. Talk about things that may be different than in elementary school. Say that you understand that some things may be challenging, and that you know your child will work hard. Meeting with the teachers will help you know what to expect and set the stage for teamwork.

25-26 TITLE I PLAN and PROMISE
Parents every year an agreement called the Title I Plan/Promise is revised and edited. This is an agreement between the school, parents, and students on how we are going to work together for the academic success of your student. This document is available on our Radloff website, in the Parent Center, sent home with students, and is given out to parents during new student registration. You may also scan the QR code to view it. After it is viewed, it is important to come to the school to sign the Plan/Promise Cover Page acknowledging that you have viewed it.
