Ott's Outlook
August 2024
Electric. That is the word I would use to best describe the month of August in our school district. As our staff begin to gather back on campuses and make final preparations for the new school year, you can just feel the energy across the district. Staff and teacher training is focused on creating engaging learning environments centered-around the use of rigorous high quality instructional materials (HQIM), authentic assessment, and targeted interventions.
The new school year will also bring some new initiatives to Temple High School. Based on input from parents, the campus will be implementing a new student cell phone procedure that limits access to phones during instruction while allowing access during passing periods, lunches and off periods. The high school will also be implementing a merit-based open campus lunch initiative starting the second grading period that rewards students’ success in the areas of academics, attendance and behavior. You can find out more about both of these initiatives in the links below.
We are especially excited about opening Sampson-Howard Elementary this year! This project would not have been possible without the support of our community and local taxpayers and we want you to have the opportunity to see the finished product. We will be hosting three community tours of the new campus over the next few months. Please make a reservation to join us using the links below.
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
