News & Updates

Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

I hope you all had a great 3-day weekend! My family and I spent time relaxing and catching up on things that we haven't had time for the past few weeks. I hope you are all staying healthy!

I am so proud of the staff and students! The last two weeks haven't been easy, but we managed to work together to find coverage to maintain a "normal" schedule. Hats off to our substitute teachers and support staff that got pulled here and there to make the magic happen. A special shot out to Ms. Hull-Garcia, Ms. Childs, and Ms. Biggers. We couldn't have done it without you! Thank you to Mrs. Lyle who also spent some time helping us in the office. Our subs were true superheroes the last two weeks!

As a reminder, if your child is out on an independent study contract, please check in at the school office to turn in the paperwork when they return to school. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

The District continues to be guided by California Department of Public Health and our experiences from last year. Thank you for your support while we continue to navigate the 2021-22 school year.

Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, in an abundance of caution, the District will reschedule all gatherings and assemblies scheduled in January.

Important Updates and Information:

  • The Great Kindness Challenge is January 24-28. Inventory your closets to plan your outfits :)> See the flyer below for our daily themes.
  • Please make sure that Chromebooks are charged daily and ready for use in the classroom.

The tech department set them up to be the most efficient and affective for learning in the classroom and for teacher management/monitoring. If you have any difficulties, please let us know and we will do our best to solve the problem or get support from our tech department.
  • As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am. Please check into the office for a late slip to ensure that your child is not marked absent.
  • There are three upcoming opportunities for students, staff and community members to get a COVID test. See information below.
  • Please make sure that you send your student to school with a Chromebook (fully charged), mask and a water bottle daily.

Attention MVLA Parents

MVLA will continue working on their second iReady assessment this week. We are excited to look at the data and see how much progress they have made. Please make sure that you send your student to school with their fully charged Chromebook. The District goal is for each student to spend at least 45 minutes per week in on both the iReady math and reading learning path.

Do you love MVLA? If you would like to share a testimony, please email us your thoughts at tripke@alpineschools.net or your child's teacher. We would like to spread the word about our unique and amazing program.

Please remember to send your student to school with their Chromebook, mask and a water bottle daily.

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Her goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs. Check out the latest Cub sightings! Check out the most recent sighting below.
