SCC Stays Unbeaten in Impressive Win over Mt. SAC

On November 26, Santiago Canyon weathered a physical and passionate contest to top Mt. San Antonio 82–75 at home, extending the Hawks’ unbeaten start to 7–0. From the opening tip, SCC leaned on its defensive foundation and collective effort despite trailing early in the game. SCC showed grit and determination as they fought back into the game after trailing by 11 with 13:40 to go in the first half. They cut the lead to 8 at halftime and carried the momentum into the second half outscoring the Mounties by 15 points.

Jacob De Armas set the tone on both ends, finishing with 18 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, blending timely scoring with disruptive perimeter defense. Salim Semaan anchored the paint with 15 points and 9 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass that proved crucial in sustaining possessions and calming the tempo during key stretches. Paris Lassiter contributed across the floor with 7 rebounds and 5 assists, connecting the offense, making the right plays, and helping the ball find its advantages. Chico Lopez delivered one of his most complete efforts of the young season, posting 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, and an impressive 3-for-4 from three, igniting the crowd at momentum-shifting moments.

The Hawks’ bench mirrored the resilience of the starters. Dominic Bolton logged a team-high 29 minutes and added 12 points, plus steady decision-making, timely rebounds, and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line to keep SCC secure late. Cayden Hong offered efficient minutes with 4 points on 2-of-3 shooting, while Matt Mendias added smart, composed minutes and 2 points to help preserve the team’s structure.

SCC finished the night with a meaningful edge of 14 offensive rebounds and shot 81% at the free-throw line, an outcome-defining figure in a game decided by toughness and execution. Mt. SAC pushed the intensity and made every possession matter, but the Hawks continued to display the traits that have fueled this start; togetherness, discipline, and a confidence powered by preparation and trust. SCC will host Palomar College on Tuesday, December 2nd at 5pm and then play in the Citrus Tournament at the end of the week.
