WELCOME BACK CHALLENGERS
Welcome Scobee Challengers-Driven with Purpose
Welcome to a brand-new school year at Scobee Elementary, where we are DRIVEN with PURPOSE!!! This year, we are committed to leading with grit, perseverance, passion, and joy as we build unforgettable learning experiences for each of our Challengers.
We want every student to walk through our doors feeling excited, loved, and ready to learn and grow- both academically and socially. Our mission is to love, challenge, and support every child so they can reach their full potential.
This year will be filled with growth, celebrations, and memorable moments that your child will carry with them for years to come.
We are thrilled to partner with you to make this a positive, engaging, and empowering year. At Scobee, we truly believe that every student is capable of greatness and the ability to grow at high levels of learning—and that belief drives everything we do. We’ll build confidence, inspire creativity, and nurture a sense of belonging that helps our Challengers shine inside and outside the classroom.
We’re excited to welcome new families, reconnect with familiar faces, and launch a school year full of possibility and promise. We know that when we work hand-in-hand with our families, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish together.
Let’s bring our vision and mission to life—for your children and for our entire Scobee community.
Below, you’ll find our Campus Handbook, which serves as a supplement to the NISD Elementary Student-Parent Handbook. The NISD Student-Parent Handbook is online at http://www.nisd.net/schools/handbooks.

Safety and Security is Scobee’s top priority and we will have each visitor raptor badged and scanned before entering the campus.
ALL parents will need to be raptored into our secured system to enter the school building beginning on the First day of school.
Fast passes are issued so that if you regularly walk your child in the school building from the hours of 7:00-7:30 we will have your badge pre-raptored for you.
All students being dropped off by parents/guardians should be dropped off at the front of the school by the covered entrance or side drive entering at Cedar Park and Cascade Oak 4 way stop. These are the ONLY two parent drop off locations.
Parents are welcome to use the parking places in the visitor parking lot if you wish to come into the building to drop off your child. Dismissal
Dismissal begins at 3:00 PM
If there is a change in the way your child is dismissed from school, please notify the teacher in writing/by email/ClassDojo. Without a written request, the teacher will send your child home the usual way.
Students will be given a unique dismissal number. This number will be reported to the staff member working parent pick up. When you present your number, your student(s) will be dismissed from the classroom. Car Tags will be issued to each family with their child/childrens unique dismissal number
For parents that wish to walk up to receive their child, you will also need your student’s unique dismissal number.
Students should be picked up no later than 3:20 PM. We do not have additional staff to supervise students after this time.
If you are in need of after school care, please consider enrolling in the after school Learning Tree program. Information about the Learning Tree program may be found at http://nisd.net/learning-tree/
If you must pick up your child before 3:00 PM for a doctor’s appointment, you will need to go to the office to sign out your child. Identification must be provided and only parents or persons listed on the child’s emergency card will be allowed to pick up the child.
Please understand that getting students home safely is a main priority. We will not dismiss a student after 2:30 unless there are special circumstances. We will not forgo a student's safety for your convenience.
Rainy Day Dismissal for WALKERS & BIKE RIDERS
Rainy day dismissal is called when we have determined the weather in the area is not safe to release bike riders and walkers. This may include, but is not limited to, heavy rain, lightning, thunder, and/or heavy winds.
Bus riders, parent pick up, Learning Tree, and daycare will proceed as normal.
Walkers and bike riders will be held at the school until administration feels that it is safe for the students to walk home.
If at 3:30, it is still not safe for the students to walk home, the school will call parents and ask what steps need to be taken.
Parents will add how they would like their child to go home during rainy day dismissal in the event you can not be reached.
Please be patient. Rainy day dismissal might be a little hectic, but our job is to keep all of our Scobee Challengers safe.

Discipline Expectations- Restorative Discipline Practices
At Scobee Elementary, we believe that good discipline is essential for learning. Discipline will be based on the seriousness of the offense and the frequency of misbehavior. Scobee Behavior Expectations are that every day every child will BE ACCOUNTABLE, BE EMPATHETIC and BE RESPECTFUL. Discipline Tickets are issued as a warning and teachers/staff that discussed the incident will notify the parents of the offense. Admin is notified of offensive reports that require investigation and documented into NISD database.
Scobee staff follows the offensive discipline matrix to determine level of consequential actions. Our Campus follows the following behavior expectations throughout the campus.
Scobee Behavior Store
The Scobee School Store program is a reward system designed to promote positive, acceptable and responsible behavior on campus.
â—Ź Each Student receives Scobee cash and Class Dojo Points to
cash into our Scobee Store for modeling positive Scobee Behavior Expectations in and out of the classroom.
â—Ź In addition, students may receive the cash coupons for helping others, using good manners,
completing assignments, or any other behavior the teacher wishes to reinforce.
â—Ź These cash coupons are collected and may be redeemed by the student at the school store.
â—Ź Students will redeem their Scobee Cash & Class DOJO Points 2 times in the Fall and 2 times
in the Spring.
Cell Phone Use Policy
Students are welcome to bring their cellphones/air pod/smartwatch to school each day. We know that
a lot of students have cellphones for safety reasons. Student cellphones are
expected to be turned off and kept in their backpacks when they enter the
building each morning. They are not to be put on silent, they are to be turned off.
Students will then be allowed to turn their cellphones back on when they are being
dismissed in the afternoon. If a student needs to call their parent(s) or if a parent(s)
needs to contact their student, it will need to be done through the office or by
contacting the teacher.
At no time should students be calling their parents during school hours from
their cellphones.
If a student violates the school cellphone policy the student will receive a warning and the staff
member will ask the student to turn off their phone and put it away. If it happens a second time, the
student’s cellphone will be picked up by the staff member and turned into the front office. Parents
will be notified and asked to come pick up the cellphones/air pod/smartwatch from the office.
Dress Code
Scobee’s dress code policy for students is in accordance with Northside’s
policy as explained in the NISD Student-Parent Handbook.
â—Ź Students are encouraged to wear rubber-soled shoes the day they have PE.
â—Ź Students can wear hoodies as long as they are worn in cold weather or cold classrooms but
not worn to hide one self from others or task
**Girls should wear shorts under dresses/skirts and ensure that the length is a comfortable length that is not too short.
**Please also limit the amount of holes in jeans
Lost & Found
Please put your child’s name on clothing and school items so that they can be returned if they are found around the campus.
â—Ź There is a lost and found located on the stage.
â—Ź We will periodically lay out all the lost and found items and if they are not claimed we will donate the items.
Message from our NURSES- Nurse Alex & Nurse Debbie
***The School nurse is permitted to administer first aid only***
â—Ź The nurse does not diagnose illnesses, but takes notes of symptoms and notifies the parent of the
observation.
â—Ź A child with a temperature will need to be picked up. A student should be fever-free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school.
â—Ź In circumstances where medication needs to be given at school, it should be taken directly to
the nurse by the parent.
â—Ź Only medication prescribed by a physician may be taken at school.
â—Ź A medication form must be completed and the prescription must be in the original prescription container.
● Long-term medication may be administered only if the physician completes the school’s
Special Health form at: www.nisd.net/healthservices
â—Ź Parents must pick up leftover medication.
â—Ź Medications will be thrown away two weeks after parent notification.
NOTES FROM OUR NURSES:
â—Ź Medication: The policies for having medications at school can be a little confusing, so we hope this information will help. The administration of non-prescription medication is normally not permitted but may be authorized by a physician for specific situations.
â—Ź Antibiotics and other Short-Term Medications: These may be administered at school with a
signed note from the parent or the parent’s signature on a short-term medication form
(available in the clinic) for up to 2 weeks. Medication must be brought to school in the original,
prescription labeled bottle. No over the counter medication is given without a doctor’s note
and must be in a new unopened bottle.
â—Ź Long-Term Medications: These may be administered at school with a signed note from an
attending physician on an NISD long-term medication form (available in the clinic). Medication
must be brought to school in the original, prescription labeled bottle.*Children with asthma
require an Asthma Action Plan to be signed by an attending physician and parent/guardian* All medications must be brought to the school clinic by an adult. Only empty medication bottles will be sent home with the student. There will be no medication kept in the classroom nor may the child give him/herself medication.
â—Ź Illness at school *As we receive updates from our district regarding Covid-19 this info
is subject to change* Any child who either has a fever of 100 degrees or more or presents
with any symptoms of covid-19 must be picked up from school as soon as possible. If a child
is sent home for any of the above reasons and has not had an exposure to covid-19, they may
return to school with a doctor’s note of clearance, when symptoms have improved and the
child is fever free without fever reducing medications for 24 hours. Occasionally, students
need a change of clothes. Please keep a clean set of clothes in your student’s backpack in
case of an issue. As a courtesy to parents, we try to keep extra clothing available for this
purpose. If your child has used clothing from the clinic, please return it clean and ready for the
next child.
â—Ź Immunizations: Complete immunizations records are not only the policy of NISD but the law
in our state. If you have received a notice that your child is in need of one or more
immunizations, please make it a priority that your child receives the required immunizations
and that a copy of the record is forwarded to the nurse immediately. Failure to respond to a
request for proof of immunizations will result in a student’s exclusion from the school
until the updated record is provided. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
For more information on medication policies, immunization requirements, or to print copies of
the medication/asthma forms, please visit the website at www.nisd.net, click on departments,
and then select health services.
