Excited to Share with Our GOHS Community!
We are incredibly proud to share that Great Oak High School has been recognized as a 2026 California Distinguished School, one of the highest honors awarded to public schools in the state. This prestigious recognition from the California Department of Education celebrates schools that demonstrate exceptional student outcomes and a deep commitment to student success.
This year, 408 middle and high schools across California were selected for the California Distinguished Schools Award. Since its inception in 1985, the program has served as one of the state’s most important ways to celebrate exceptional schools, districts, teachers, and classified staff for their innovation, talent, and success in supporting students.
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond praised this year’s honorees, noting that these schools represent the hard work of educators and staff who provide students with life-changing educational opportunities and demonstrate the power of an excellent public education to transform lives.
The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes campuses that distinguish themselves through exemplary instructional programs and strong student outcomes. Schools are evaluated using multiple indicators from the California School Dashboard, including academic achievement, graduation rates, and college and career readiness. Schools must also demonstrate strong school climate indicators and maintain at least 95% participation in statewide assessments.
Great Oak High School was recognized in the category of Exemplary High Achievers. This designation honors schools that rank among the highest in the state in overall academic achievement while also ensuring that historically underserved student groups are maintaining or increasing their academic progress.
This recognition reflects the collective effort of our entire Wolfpack community. Our students continue to demonstrate dedication to their learning, our teachers and staff work tirelessly to challenge and support every learner, and our families remain essential partners in helping students succeed.
At Great Oak, our community lives out the Wolfpack core values of Scholarship, Passion, Involvement, Reflection, Integrity, and Teamwork each day. This award is a testament to that commitment and to the incredible work happening in our classrooms and across campus.
Congratulations, Wolfpack! This recognition belongs to our entire community.
9 Week Progress Reports
Dear Wolfpack,
This week marks the end the 9-Week Grading Period. The 9-Week Progress Report Grade will be in the Infinite Campus Portal for viewing on Friday, March 20th. The 20th is also an important date for our student athletes whose athletic eligibility will be impacted for not meeting the appropriate academic criteria.
This is the perfect opportunity for student/parent REFLECTION on their academic performance. Families should consider the following questions:
Have I accessed INTERVENTION for classes that I am not achieving in?
- Do I have a system where I track my grades each week through INFINITE CAMPUS?
- Are my parents CANVAS OBSERVERS so they can help me track my progress?
We appreciate the partnership with our families as we all work together to support the success of our Pack!

AP/IB Testing Proctors Needed
We will need your help to proctor more than 2,600 AP exams and over 500 IB exams in May. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any graduations tickets as we have in years past.
Below, you can find the Sign-up genius links to help proctor. Please review the testing schedule to see when you may be available to support our students.
Proctoring is very easy, and we couldn't do it without you. Each test already has a lead proctor, so now we need additional proctors to help monitor students.
We appreciate your time! Your help saves thousands of dollars each year that go back into resources, supplies for students, and teacher training.
Note: You cannot proctor an exam for a test your student is taking, so please check with them before signing up.

#BetheOne to Celebrate Our Diversity at GOHS!
Celebrating Women's History Month
This month GOHS celebrates women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Women’s History Month has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. Women’s History Month is an opportunity to highlight powerful women who fought against injustice and to reflect on the political, cultural, and socioeconomic achievements of women worldwide. Women’s History is American History and should be taught year round. March is another opportunity to highlight Women who have positively influenced and enriched our Nation and society.
National Disabilities Awareness Month
In 1987 Ronald Regan officially declared Proclamation 5613 making the month of March National Disabilities Awareness Month. The proclamation called for people to provide understanding, encouragement and opportunities to help persons with disabilities to lead productive and fulfilling lives. March is a time to take extra steps to raise awareness about the rights of the people with disabilities and to celebrate their contributions to our communities and society as a whole! We would also like to acknowledge the endless commitment and dedication of our educators who have committed their careers to serving our differently abled students.
PBIS: A Reminder About Dress Code
Please make sure that all students adhere to the TVUSD Policy for Dress and Grooming 5132:
Temecula Valley Unified School District believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment. Student attire and grooming must permit the student to participate in learning without posing a risk to the health or safety of any student or school district personnel. The school district is responsible for seeing that student attire does not disrupt school activity or contribute to a hostile or intimidating atmosphere for any student.
Students must wear clothing including a shirt with pants or skirt, or the equivalent (for example dresses, leggings, or shorts) and shoes.
Clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments and buttocks. No underwear, undergarments, or clothing that is comparable to undergarments (e.g, bathing suits that resemble the same coverage of an undergarment) may be visible at any time. Clothing may not be see-through or mesh if underwear is visible underneath.
Attire may not display images that are violent and/or depict drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, or promote any unlawful act. Additionally, attire may not contain imagery, words or acronyms associated with hate speech, profanity, pornography, or any promotion and/or endorsement of violence, alcohol or drug use.
