May 2025 Upcoming Levy May 2025 Upcoming Levy

Clinton-Massie Local Schools will again be seeking a 1% earned income tax levy aimed at enhancing the quality of education for our students and securing the future of our school district. Due to the failures in 2024, we have been placed in Fiscal Caution once again due to a low cash balance at the end of next year and a negative cash balance at the end of the 26-27 school year. This means we must submit a Board-approved Written Plan to ODEW by the end of February. We must address our revenue shortfall regardless of a levy passage. Therefore, we will be making $1 million in personnel cuts resulting in up to 5 teachers losing their job. This includes electives/specials throughout the district as well as the Teaching & Learning Specialist, Falcon FLEX program, and a District Technology Specialist. If the levy passes in May 2025, we will receive approximately $200,000 in April of 2026. That means the reductions will stay in place for the 2025-26 school year regardless. We will evaluate our finances during that year to determine what the 2026-27 school year will look like.

Your involvement is crucial as we work together for the betterment of our students and community. We remain committed to our students and will work tirelessly to minimize disruptions to their education. Our goal is to ensure that every child has access to quality learning experiences, and we will continue evaluating all of our options on how best to do this. We encourage open dialogue within our community to discuss how we can collectively support our schools and students. For more information about the levy and its implications, please visit our website at www.cmfalcons.org/levy.

4 Quarter Drive Update 4 Quarter Drive Update

You may have been wondering: why does the school need a tax levy when they just got a new athletic field? We're proud to announce the progress on the Clinton-Massie 4 Quarter Drive, and we want to make it clearโ€”no tax dollars were used to replace the turf! This project is a community-driven effort with no tax burden on our residents. The continued support of Clinton-Massie ensures our students and athletes have access to top-tier facilities while keeping school budgets intact. Thank you for your amazing support!

The 4 Quarter Drive Committee continues to work tirelessly to maintain momentum for upgrading our athletic facilities. As we near completion of securing funds for Quarter 1 (installation of the new turf), we are now focusing on the remaining needs for the track, grandstands, lights, and tennis courts.

To achieve these upgrades, we are seeking partnerships with local businesses and community members. In return, we offer a variety of exciting sponsorship opportunities, including but not limited to; naming rights, advertisement placement, donor wall recognition, PA announcements, season passes, and more!

Project Overview:

  • The total estimated cost for the entire project is approximately $2.5 million.

  • $549,635.01 has already been raised and/or pledged for Quarter 1 (Turf - years 1-3), with an additional $78,850 pledged for future improvements (years 4-10). This brings our current total pledged/donated cash to $628,485.01.

  • We have also received $500,000 in in-kind labor to help complete Quarters 2-4 in the future.

  • With the in-kind labor and cash pledged/donated for the entire project, the total raised/pledged so far is $1,128,485.01.

  • The school and athletic boosters combined have already collected $398,812.05 of the donations and pledges, with additional funds pledged for the following years.

Special Thanks:

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the local businesses and community members who have generously pledged or donated funds thus far. Your continued support is essential in helping us realize these important upgrades for our students and community.

Thank you for being a part of this transformative project!

Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) and District Cell Phone Policies

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) has released a report detailing the significant progress made by school districts in adopting cell phone policies. This follows the enactment of House Bill 250 in May, which mandates that all K-12 schools in Ohio adopt policies restricting student use of cell phones by July 1, 2025. However, the report shows that over 60% of districts have already put such policies in place, a full year ahead of the required deadline.

Governor Mike DeWine emphasized the harmful impact of cell phones on students' academic performance and mental health, highlighting improvements in focus and social connections where cell phone policies have already been implemented.
