Reorganization Proposal Put on Pause
Here are the Superintendent's remarks in part regarding the pause:
"... [B]ased upon feedback collected from a variety of stakeholders and further reflection, it is clear that additional time is needed to address a variety of systemic teaching and learning issues, at all schools, with high impact systems and structures supporting the improvement of teaching and learning. Additional time will allow for more dialogue, feedback, and planning on a revised reorganization that can be implemented based on a variety of internal and external factors."
However, there will be modifications to implement changes to employee stipends.
Virtual Academy Update
Dr. Brouke Reynolds, the Coordinator of Innovative Virtual Learning Programs, provided the Board of Education with an update on achievement among students enrolled in the Virtual Academy. Currently, there are 121 students enrolled in our Virtual Academy.
Second and Third Quarter Discipline Data
Leaders from the Office of School Performance and the Office of Student Information Services presented data on the student discipline across the district from the second and third quarters. The presentation takes a look at the most common incidents and provides leaders with insight on trends.
Stronger Connections Grant
Mr. Gary Logan, the Executive Director of Student-Centered Support Services, and Ms. Kathy Hale, the School Counselor Supervisor, presented information on the Stronger Connections grant. The grant, which provides $403,900 to the district over a three year period, allows for the implementation of Ripple Effects. Ripple Effects is a social emotional skill building program used to promote positive behavioral and mental health among students. Used across tiers and settings, Ripple Effects programs ensure each learner gets what they uniquely need to thrive in school and life.
Special thanks to Mrs. Heather Rhodes-Newburn, the District Coordinated School Health (CSH) Coordinator, for her efforts to secure the grant.
