Wolf Ridge Minutemen and Minutemaid News for 8/28-9/1

Minute byMinute NewsWolf Ridge Minutemen and Minutemaid News for8/28-9/1

Dear Wolf Ridge Students and Families,

The first full week of school for all of our Wolf Ridge students was a HOT one! Luckily, it was also a smooth one despite the occasional indoor recess due to high temperatures. Students and staff are settling into their normal routines with curriculum and learning.

I was able to visit with every class, PK-7, this week. Students were introduced to our new "RESPECT THE RED" slogan. Ask your child what "RESPECT THE RED" means. Each student also designed a paper brick for a special display we are making at Wolf Ridge. We are BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES and each student is an important part of what we are building.

Next week, we will kickoff our POP (Power of Purpose!) Fundraiser on Tuesday. Students will be bringing home information on Tuesday. Please complete the quick and easy GOLDEN TICKET ASSIGNMENT for prizes awarded the very next day. Check out below for more information and be sure to check your child's backpack for information on Tuesday. Thank you in advance for your continued support of our school. Our Bunker Hill families are the very best!

Your Principal,

Shonda Ronen

It is going to be AWESOME; we are excited to get started!

A few things to note:
- This program will be extremely easy & requires only about 10 minutes of your time.
- Your students can earn great rewards, just for their effort. No money required!
- This is an online, donation-based fundraiser, and the email and text message
donation requests can go to people you know anywhere in the world.

Students will be bringing home more information next week after our Launch Party
presentation on Tuesday. Please help your student register and complete the Golden Ticket assignment that very night! All students who complete the Golden Ticket assignment will receive fun PRIZES and it does not require any money to register. SEL/Student & Family Advocate

There is a new student at Wolf Ridge! You may have seen her hanging out by the entrance. Her name is Minnie and she is our Minutemen and Minutemaid Rock Snake! This week I have spent time in classrooms talking about how we can spread kindness and positivity in a fun, creative way. In the younger classes, I read Kindness Rocks, a book about a young girl who paints rocks and spreads joy to those around her. We have "visited" Minnie and enjoyed looking at the rocks students and families have left. Some of our students showed off the special rocks they made. There is still time to grow Minnie! Students, families, and community members are welcome to participate by decorating a rock and adding it to Minnie. Our students can't wait to see how long Minnie will grow and what fun new pictures or words of affirmation await them!

DROP OFF & PICK UP AT WOLF RIDGE DROP OFF & PICK UP AT WOLF RIDGE

WOLF RIDGE DROP OFF:

PreK students and their siblings can be dropped off in the front circle by the cafeteria double doors. Kindergarten can drop off in the front circle on their child's first day of school only by the main entrance. Parents may walk kindergarten students into the building on the first day only. It would help if these groups do not drop off until closer to 8:00am to avoid interference with our buses. If you do drop off at the same time as the buses, please remember that you are never allowed to pass a stopped school bus.

All other students should be dropped off in the car line just off of East Alton Street anytime between 7:30-8:10. PAC students can be dropped off at this same location anytime between 6:00-8:00. We will be there to greet you each day!

If you have any questions about bussing, please contact the unit office at 618-585-3116.

WOLF RIDGE PICK UP:

If you are picking your child up from school at Wolf Ridge, you will need a car tag. Car tags will be distributed by teachers at both Kindergarten Orientation and Stop&Drop Night. If you do not get your car tag at one of our back to school events, please contact the school office at 618-585-4831. We will let you know your special number. These tags will be sent home on the first day if not picked up prior. While we have made special car tags, please feel free to write the number on a blank sheet of paper and put it in your car window so that it is visible to our dismissal crew if you forget it or don't have it on your child's first day. The numbers have changed since last year.

Students in preschool will not need a car tag as they will be picked up at the preschool double doors in front of the building by the cafeteria.

PAC students can be picked up anytime from 3:30-6:00 just inside the cafeteria. Please enter the building through the double doors in front of the cafeteria where the awning is located. Students in this program need to be signed out each day by an approved pick up person.

Students should not be dropped off prior to 7:30AM. If care is needed prior to 7:30, sign up for our before-school care.
