A Letter from Mr. Savage
Prom 2024 is in the books! Mother Nature did her best to put a damper on the night. High winds and thunderstorms made us move the Red-Carpet event indoors but the students and our guests were flexible and we got the evening off to a great start! After that, the evening went off without any more hiccups. The juniors and their sponsors did a fantastic job of planning and decorating and the gym and commons were transformed into the theme of the evening – “The City that Never Sleeps”! Our students and guests enjoyed a terrific meal at the banquet and then danced the night away in the commons. A big thank you goes out to the parents of our junior class that helped decorate and to our class sponsors – Mrs. Sammie Parker and Mrs. Liz Miller! Great job everyone!
The Marshall County Emergency Management Team toured our buildings on April 3rd to get a better perspective of our facility layout. This is just another step to make sure we are providing a safe environment here at Valley Heights. I am sure that some of our patrons saw all the cars in the front of the building and thought we had some excitement going on inside the building!
We would like to thank our local Rotary chapter for recognizing the members of the Class of 2024! On April 10th they provided a meal and program for the seniors and their parents. The evening was a huge success with one of the largest turnouts for the event in quite some time.
Two big events are on the calendar for the upcoming week. We are hosting our 8th grade orientation session for the incoming class of freshman on Wednesday night and our Junior High Forensics night on Thursday! The orientation session for the Class of 2028 is very important because the KSDE has changed graduation guidelines for that group and those that follow. It is important that we get to see as many students and parents as possible that night!
Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2024 is scheduled for May 11th at 2:00 pm. Our Baccalaureate service is scheduled for May 5th starting at 7:00 pm. I thought you might be interested in what direction our Seniors are going in the fall! Thirteen Mustangs are headed to a 4-year college and four will be enrolling in a two-year college. One student will be attending a Vocational Technical school to learn a trade. Four students will be finishing their certificates through Highland Community College – Western Campus this May and three of those students will be entering the work force. One of these students has decided to further their education and is looking at a 4-year college. As of right now – only one Senior is undecided about their fall plans.
Heads up! We do not have classes on April 15th because of Professional Development!
