Art News
Hello, families!
It’s been a creative and busy nine weeks in the art room. Here’s a look at what students have been exploring and making.
Featured Project: Fifth-Grade Yearbook Covers
Fifth graders designed yearbook covers that reflect their year and celebrate Haynesfield’s 100th birthday!. They began by brainstorming ideas and sketching possibilities, then refined their concepts and developed final designs. Along the way, students used their creativity, shared ideas, and worked together to bring their designs to life.
Kindergarten: kindergartners are exploring different art media and learning art room routines through hands-on stations.
First grade: first graders have been working their way through the elements of art, completing a project on each one.
Second grade: created artwork inspired by artists Jasper Johns and Yayoi Kusama.
Third grade: created symmetrical name designs, then used the same symmetry technique to develop their own student-generated ideas.
Fourth grade: are in the middle of a medieval unit, a student favorite, including model magic dragon eye sculptures.
Thank you for supporting your young artists and encouraging their creativity. Please reach out if you have any questions about what we’ve been doing in art class. I’m always glad to hear from you!
