Updated Volunteer District Protocol
Dear Davis families,
We're pleased to share our updated Volunteer District Protocol, which reflects our commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all students while supporting our valuable volunteer community.
Key highlights of the updated protocol include:
Culture of Dignity Focus: All volunteers are expected to honor the dignity of every student, staff member, and community member, aligning with our D303 Core Value of Belonging
Streamlined Process: Clear guidelines distinguish between one-day volunteers (who may use the Raptor ID system) and repeat volunteers (who require background checks through Kane County ROE)
Safety First: Enhanced procedures ensure appropriate supervision levels, with specific requirements for overnight trips and unsupervised volunteer activities
The protocol is designed to make volunteering both accessible and secure, whether you're helping with a single classroom activity or becoming a regular volunteer in our schools.
For complete details about volunteer requirements, application procedures, and background check processes, please click HERE to view the full Volunteer District Protocol on our district website.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and schools!

National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Davis Elementary welcomes you to participate in this morning's event. These events are important opportunities to bring our school community together. Our goal is to encourage physical activity and promote safety in your neighborhoods. On the sidewalk at Horne and 7th Street (by the crossing guard), the Davis Wellness Club student representatives, staff, and PTO will welcome our students as they walk, bike, and roll to school.
Kickathon - Opportunity to Support and Share
Davis Student Council members are sponsoring a "Penny Drive" to raise funds for the St. Charles Kick-a-Thon. - How can you support your child with reaching his or her goals?
The conferences will conclude with time for questions that you may have for your child or the teacher.

News from the Nurse
Here are a few updates/reminders for our families:
Itโs hard to believe another school year is underway! The October 15th deadline is fast approaching for families who have not completed your childโs Physical Exam and completed Immunization Record. Many reminders have been sent out. Please reach out to Nurse Peggy or Nurse LeeAnna with a date the exam will be completed. If we do not hear from you before that date, there is a probability that your child will be excluded from school until that requirement is completed. If you need any assistance, we are available and have many resources we can share. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community healthy.
If your child has been injured and/or cannot participate in PE/Recess, please call the Health Office to inform the Nurse of the situation.
- A physician note with all restrictions is required for the childโs safety. We will do our best to meet our students' needs but need to have the information to do so.
- A release will need to be obtained before the child can return without restrictions.
- We will always encourage students to go outside with their class for โfresh airโ.
Thank you to all who have sent in gently used clothing for our Health Office. We have a need for girls/ boys pants, sized 5-10, no blue jeans please - our kids will not wear them. Currently if you think your child should need to use this service we provide, please send extra underwear and clothes in their backpacks for them to use.
In the business of the mornings, sometimes breakfast can be forgotten. We all encourage you to make sure that the children have a good breakfast before coming to school if possible. Breakfast feeds the brain and helps it to get poppinโ for the day. Make sure snacks that are sent are on the healthy side to keep energy high to get through the day. Donโt forget the water bottles either :)
When your child is ill and has to go home, please be prompt in picking them up. I would expect a half hour or so should be enough time to make arrangements. Of course there are always things that come up and I will be as flexible as possible. My office is very busy at times with kids coming in and out so it would be very appreciated.
Thank you!
Nurse Peggy (peggy.faught@d303.org, 331-228-2204)
Nurse LeeAnna (leeanna.anzaldi@d303.org, 331-228-6681)
Medications & Cough Drops at School
Students are not allowed to bring coughs, gum or peppermint candies to school. A Physician order is needed for all over the counter types of medications. The Medication Administration form can be obtained on the district website. Physicians must complete and sign the top portion and parents need to sign the bottom portion before any medications are given. You should not be sending any medications to school with the children in their backpacks unless the proper forms for self carry are completed. (which is for emergency and rescue meds) Please drop off the medication along with the completed form to the Nurse.
Hearing and Vision
Hearing and Vision screenings have started here at Davis. If your child is supposed to be wearing glasses, please make sure your child brings them to school every day. We have found that many students that are having a hard time with the screenings are also having a hard time seeing the board in the classroom. Some already have glasses that they are supposed to wear daily, but they are not wearing them.
The screenings are done to encourage and create healthy environments, so our students have the best opportunity to learn. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. If your child has been referred for an eye exam because he/she didnโt pass the screening process, please be prompt with your follow up appointment. This will assist in the success of your child.
As always, it is very appreciated
Nurse Peggy
