Welcome to November
Whitfield Families
WELCOME!
Dear Whitfield Elementary Families,
Hello Whitfield Families! Fall is officially in full swing! As we head into November, we have so much to celebrate across our school community. Our students and staff have had a fantastic, learning-filled month: Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Participated in an interactive Fire Prevention learning program. 2nd Grade: Attended an engaging Yocum presentation focused on managing emotions. 3rd Grade: Practiced diligently for their upcoming Veterans Day ceremony. 4th Grade: Stepped into the role of Earth Sciences with their Earthquake Engineering hands-on project. 5th Grade: Observed life cycles up close through a hands-on embryology experience. Our students continue to show what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe, and they are working hard to earn their second building-wide reward! Looking Ahead to November We are pumped for the month ahead! Key upcoming highlights including: Honoring the Veterans of our Whitfield community, kicking off our next session of student clubs, our monthly school-wide assembly, music in Our Schools events for Grades 3–5, the 5th Grade field trip to Landis Valley Museum. Parent-Teacher Conferences Conferences are right around the corner! Please review the scheduling details below to sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher. We look forward to connecting with you.

Whitfield is continuing to work towards their next whole-school incentive! We are getting close to filling up the paw chart as students consistently follow our school-wide expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe. Teachers are actively reinforcing these expectations in their classrooms as well as in common areas like the playground and cafeteria. Keep working hard, Whitfield, and keep earning those positive paws!

November is linked to a time of gratitude and in that spirit, we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Glow Dance fundraiser. Every donation of funds and every hour of volunteering led to a successful event that will help do wonderful things at Whitfield this upcoming year. Thank you to the chairpersons who led the effort, thank you to the volunteers who helped set up, clean up, and chaperone, and thank you to our school community for their generosity. This appreciation extends to our volunteers and chairpersons for the fall class parties and Duncan’s Corn Maze.
Coming up this month, we have Family Night at Outback Steakhouse in Wyomissing on Monday, November 9th from 4-9 pm. The flyer was sent home but can also be found on our website (https://whitfieldhsa.org/events); show the flyer on dine-in or take-out orders and 10% comes back to the school. We will also be preparing for our staff appreciation event on Monday, November 23rd so you’d like to help provide a donation of drinks or desserts to the teachers and staff during conferences before the holiday break, look for the upcoming sign-up link.
Looking further ahead, Holiday Shoppe is coming on Saturday, December 5th from 9am-12pm. This is always such a fun event, with special guests and holiday merriment, and this year will be no different. In addition to a wide selection of gifts kids can buy and wrap for their loved ones, we will once again have local adult and child artisans and their crafts on hand. The Candy Cane Café will also be there with goodies and hot drinks to enjoy while you enjoy the festivities.
Along with the changing of the seasons, November is associated with the color gold. It was believed that topaz had healing powers while its more modern counterpart, citrine, brought calm and wish-granting. Our wish is to see you all at our next meeting on Wednesday, November 18th at 3:45 pm. Due to the fall book fair being held in the library, we will be meeting in the portable classroom at the back of the school (look for the sign).
