Principal's Message 🍎
Dear Families,
We’d like to extend a big thank you to all the families who joined us for our PTO’s first BINGO Night! It was wonderful to see so many students and families laughing, connecting, and enjoying time together. Your support helps make events like this possible, and we are so grateful for our amazing school community.
We’re looking forward to our upcoming STEM Family Night on March 5th! The evening will include hands-on activities, a light dinner for families, a Title I presentation from me, and a special Blacklight Art Show hosted by Ms. Keefe. We will also be sharing information about our One Book, One School initiative for the month of March, including how families can participate at home and support our shared reading experience. It will be a fun and engaging night for everyone, and we hope to see you there!
Additionally, we invite families to attend our upcoming PTO meeting this Monday, March 2, at 5:30 PM. The IST team and I will be presenting our Title I data and sharing information about how we are supporting student growth. We value your partnership and hope you’ll join us for this important conversation.
As we head into Women’s History Month, our students will continue celebrating the achievements of trailblazing women throughout history. Students will be reading daily announcements highlighting influential women and their contributions. Providing students with the opportunity to read announcements is important because it builds confidence, strengthens public speaking skills, and allows them to hear their own voices amplified in a leadership role. When students hear themselves sharing meaningful messages with the school community, it fosters pride, ownership, and a stronger sense of belonging.
We are excited for a month of celebration, learning, and student leadership!
Warm regards,
Lady Jones

Notes from the Office📄
Reporting Student Attendance 💛
To help us support your student’s success and safety, all attendance notifications need to come through the school office. This includes:
✨ Absences — Please let us know each day your child is out, especially if they’re sick for multiple days. You may email doctor's notes to the school secretary or send them to school with your student.
✨ Late Arrivals & Early Pick-Ups — Inform the office so we can properly record the day.
✨ Extended Vacations - Please fill out the Pre-Planned Absence Form (link is located at the bottom of the newsletter) and return it to the office with your student.
✨ Attendance may be reported to the office via phone, secretary email, or via Infinite Campus Parent Portal under "more" and "absence requests".
📧 Email: katie.ascher@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
📞 Phone: 920-424-0165
If someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up your student, please notify the office ahead of time. For everyone’s safety, the person picking up must show a valid ID at pickup so we can confirm they’re approved to take your child.
Thank you for staying connected and helping us ensure every student’s day is safe, smooth, and successful!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
⏰ Morning Routine
-
Supervision on the blacktop begins at 7:30 AM. Students should not arrive before 7:30 AM.
-
At 7:30 AM, students will come inside the building and report to their indoor recess locations. Staff will be at the front doors letting students in.
-
The first bell rings at 7:40 AM.
-
Students are expected to be in their classrooms and ready to learn by 7:45 AM when the second bell rings. Students not in their seats at this time will be marked tardy.
If your student arrives after 7:45 AM, please drop them off at Door 1. They will enter through the office, check in, and receive a late pass. Parents/guardians may say goodbye to students outside at Door 1.
🚶 Dismissal — 2:45 PM
-
Students are dismissed at 2:45 PM.
-
Adults picking up students should stay on the blacktop, behind the painted pink lines near Door 1, and not stand on the pavement pad next to the door.
-
Teachers will bring students to their blacktop line-up spots to meet you safely.
🚪 Visiting the School
-
If you need to visit the building, please ring the doorbell at Door 1 to be let in. This includes before or after school.
-
Do not enter the building while students are arriving or leaving.
-
Parents/guardians may not walk students to their classrooms.
Cold Weather Reminder - Dressing for the Outdoors
Winter is here! We want every student to stay safe, warm, and comfortable while enjoying fresh air and play. Here’s what you need to know to help your child be ready for chilly weather:
👟 What We Do:
-
We have outdoor recess before school and twice during the day whenever weather allows.
-
Students play outside if the temperature is 10°F or above, or the wind chill is above 0°F.
-
We stay indoors if it’s below 10°F, the wind chill is 0°F or below, or if it’s raining.
🧥 What Your Student Needs:
-
Coat or warm jacket: Required when the temperature is 50°F or below. (Even days in the 40s count!)
-
Snowpants & boots: Needed to play in the field or playground when snow is present.
-
Extra clothes: With wet snow and soggy play areas, a spare set of clothes in backpacks is a great idea!
⚠️ If your child forgets snowpants or boots:
They will stay on the blacktop during snowy playtimes.
Need help with winter gear?
Please call the office at 920-424-0165, we’re happy to assist!
Thank you for partnering with us to keep every student warm, safe, and ready for outdoor fun as weather permits! ❄️😊

Volunteer in the OASD
As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. Applications are good for 3 years, and are effective for all OASD schools. You can find the application HERE.
Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 48 hours, so please plan accordingly!
