January 2026 Newsletter
A Message from Mr. Larsen
Happy New Year, KMMS Families,
I hope this message finds you healthy and well. We had several student absent before break due to illness, and I am hopeful every family remained healthy during the extended break. We are excited about and looking forward to 2026.
Welcome Back
KMMS staff was excited to welcome students back today. It is great having the energy back in the building, as it is missed during break. Students seemed eager to connect with their friends and teachers, which is always a great first step after a long break. We had a terrific start to 2026 and are looking forward to rounding out Quarter 2.
Expectations
As students return from break, we will continue to emphasize keeping our hands and feet to ourselves. The priority of KMMS is ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. As with many middle school students, they express their joy and happiness physically. While we want our students to be happy, we also want them to express it safely and respectfully. Thus, our staff have emphasized and reiterated student safety in the hallways and classrooms. Any conversations at home would be greatly appreciated.
Quarter 2 and Learning Lab
The end of Quarter 2 is nearing, so please work with your student and their teachers should they be missing any work. The Learning Lab in the Learning Center is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00-4:00 pm. Although we do not provide transportation, it is an option for students to use after school should they need additional support. The Learning Lab offers homework help, organization, and a quiet space for studying. If you have any questions about this program, please contact the middle school office.
Recess Reminder
I want to quickly remind parents and guardians that our students will be outside for recess daily. When the temperature or wind chill falls below 0 degrees, we will have inside recess for our students. If your students forgets a coat, hat or gloves, please have them connect with their teachers. Please know we promote an active and healthy lifestyle whenever possible, and will go outside often.
We greatly value the partnership between home and school. If you ever have a question, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teachers or the middle school office. Thank you for your continued support of Kasson-Mantorville Middle School.
Together in KoMet Pride,
Josh Larsen
Principal
