5.15.26 Family Message
Greetings Gearity Families:
We have two weeks of school left so let's make everyday count! Teachers are working with their students daily on foundational grade level skills, preparing for next year's content, and refining presentation skills. As a reminder, students need to come every day for the next two weeks since they will not be in school during their summer break which is 81 days long! Summer learning loss is a real thing so make sure they go to the library to get books and read daily for at least 20 minutes to build fluency and reading comprehension skills.
5th Grade Farewell Ceremony Tickets are Available! The 5th grade ceremony is May 28th @ 2:00 pm - the date in the District calendar is not accurate! 5th grade families can pick up their four tickets from the main office during school hours. We will have a photo booth set up and additional family members are invited to come after the ceremony to take pictures.
Free Books Available for Summer Reading: Please help spread the word about the FREE Heights Summer Book Fair sponsored by the CHHS National Honor Society! Families are invited to stop by the high school café on Tuesday, May 26th from 5:00–8:00 PM to pick out free books for the summer, create bookmarks, and enjoy a fun literacy-focused event for all ages. This is a wonderful opportunity to help encourage summer reading and get books into the hands of our students and families before break.
2026 Summer Programming Offered by CH-UH Partners and Community Organizations: Please note that these summer offerings are organized and run by groups and individuals outside of the CH-UH City School District.
Camp Invention is Back: click here to learn about the program. The program is open to students completing K-5th this school year. The camp runs from July 20-24 at the high school. The program hours are 9:00 - 3:30 and costs $285. The first 30 students registered will receive a $150 scholarship. Register here: https://tinyurl.com/CHUHCampInvention26
Kindergarten Readiness Camp: Families with incoming Kindergarten students will be offered the opportunity to participate in a 5 week Kindergarten Readiness Camp - see the flyer below for details.
PTA Needs Your Help! As we approach the end of the school year, we hope you have enjoyed attending all of our school community building events including the ice cream social, Father's Walk, Homecoming Parade, Family Glow Dance, and Ice Skating event. These activities, along with the book fairs, only happen because of the support of the PTA. We need volunteers to join our executive board so we can continue to sponsor these amazing events next year. The time commitment is limited as we share the planning responsibility and want to honor your time as working parents. Please see the flyer below and share your interest in helping as we need you!
