Student Learning Spotlight
8th Grade Science
Our 8th grade scientists kicked off their Astronomy Unit this week with a hands-on Flame Test Lab! Students explored how different compounds produce specific colors of light when heated. This same principle is used by astronomers through spectroscopy to identify the chemical composition of distant stars and galaxies.
A great way to bring the science of space a little closer to home!

AGMS VEX IQ Robotics-Now Forming
VEX IQ Robotics is open to students in grades 6-8. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. Students work in small teams to build robots, tackle this year's game challenge ("Level Up"), and compete in tournaments throughout the season, picking up real skills in engineering, coding, teamwork, and problem-solving along the way. And having a lot of fun doing it.
Meetings: Wednesdays after school (subject to change)
Starting: September 30th
Where: Room 205
Cost: $100
Parents: interested in helping? We're looking for adult mentors to support our teams - no robotics experience needed. Volunteering as a team mentor can waive your student's program fee (district clearances required). If you'd like to support the program as a mentor or sponsor, reach out anytime.
Space is limited, so interested students should contact Coach Andy Meyer at ameyer2@myagsd.net.
