Hello WCHE 5th grade parents!
As many of you know, I have spent the past few weeks meeting with our 5th grade classes to assist students with their 6th grade course selections. The forms below were sent home to guide them through course selection. Students returned to my class last week, and I assisted them with selecting and entering those courses for 6th grade scheduling purposes using their student Skyward accounts.
I encourage parents of our 5th grade Tigers to review these course selections that your student made in order to ensure that you are in agreement with their choices. You may make changes to the course selections in your child's student Skyward account through March 1.

LTMS and WCHE are working together to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition for our rising 6th graders.
Field Days will be loads of fun for all! Visitors are welcome to attend and should RSVP here by 3 pm the day prior to your event. Thanks to our fabulous WCHE PTO, our student athletes will have an opportunity to enjoy refreshing Kona Ice!

Thursday, March 7, 8:30 am - 10:00 am - Tiger Kindergarten and 1st Grade Field Day
Friday, March 8, Photos and Awards Presentations will occur during Specials Classes. March 8 is an EARLY RELEASE DAY! School is dismissed at 11:40 am that day.
Please note that due to Field Day events, on Wednesday, March 6, 3rd Grade Lunch will be at 11:00 - 11:30 am that day, and the 4th Grade Lunch will be 1:10 - 1:40 pm that day.
Gifted/Talented Testing for Kindergarten Students
Happy New Year! I am happy to announce know that the testing window for Kindergarten students to sign up for our Gifted and Talented Program here at WCHE is currently open and will remain open until the end of the 3rd grading period, Thursday, March 7. Testing for the GT Program will begin promptly once the window closes.
The first part of the assessment phase will be a screener that all students will take to determine whether or not the student understands the testing format. Those students who perform well on the screener will then continue with testing and take the remaining assessments to determine qualification for the GT Program. If a student does not score well on the screener, he/she will have further opportunities in first grade and beyond to attempt the screener again the following school year.

WCHE Looking to Hire Level 2 Paraprofessional, Crossing Guard, and a recess monitor. We Also Need More LVN/RN Substitute Nurses!
Want a fun part-time job? Or, maybe you are Texas certified as an LVN or RN and would enjoy extra income from subbing for our school nurse? Then apply today for one of our open positions. Our crossing guard resigned, and we're looking for someone to cover our crosswalk a couple of hours daily. Our lunch monitors work 4 hours each day, and recess monitors work 5 hours each day. And, occasionally, Nurse Kate needs a day off and needs a substitute nurse to cover her duties.
What could be more fun!!!
