Scott Middle School's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
What Has Been Happening in Mrs. D'Angelo's Classroom?
In Reading Foundations, students in all grades are working hard every day to improve
their phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension! Last week, 6th and
7th grade students worked as detectives and paired up to use their reading
comprehension and logic skills to solve the “Mystery of the Reckless Reindeer”. Eighth
grade students have been learning about morphology so that they can attack bigger
words when they come across them in content area texts. They are reading a
non-fiction text about the history of gingerbread and then will make their own
gingerbread houses.
Scott Middle School Title 1 Needs Assessment Survey- Family Engagement
Thank you to the families that completed this survey earlier. I wanted to share it again to give families another chance to participate. If you have not had the chance to, please do. We value your feedback!
As a Title 1 funded district, the school values parent feedback to make improvements as we work together continuously to meet student needs. Please complete the survey below to help us better meet those needs when planning events.
Holiday Cheer in Ms. Hall's Classroom
7th and 8th Grade Winter Concert Was A Success!
Congratulations to our Seventh and Eighth Grade musicians and Mr. Wagner on a wonderful night of music. Students, staff, families and friends gathered in the auditorium last Tuesday night to hear performances from the orchestra, chorus and band. The students did a great job and everyone was proud of the growth they have shown since last year We are very proud of all of our musicians and looking forward to a great Spring Concert as well. Well done!
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found has been growing over the last couple months with the addition of many coats and sweatshirts. We had it on display at the Winter Concerts and it was moved from the cafeteria to our first floor hallway for the last week. Students have been told all month that what has not been claimed before the Winter Break will be donated after school on Tuesday.
Please urge your students to come and claim their missing items.

Any 7th grade students without updated immunizations (Tdap and Meningitis) risk exclusion from school. Multiple notices have been sent to students who are out of compliance for 7th grade attendance . Students that come to school without the required paperwork or proof of an appointment will be sent home.
If your student needs medication in school, please have their doctor complete the medication form and have an adult bring the medication to the school nurse.

Additional Reminder from Nurse Ritter About Sick Students
I hope you are doing well. I would like to share an important reminder about our school’s procedure when students feel sick during the school day.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in students texting or calling their parents directly to go home due to illness. Please remind your child that they must come to the School Nurse first if they are not feeling well. I will assess their symptoms and determine whether they need to rest, return to class, or be sent home.
For safety and accountability, parents should not come to pick up a student unless you receive a call from the Nurse’s Office. This ensures that every student is properly evaluated and that we are aware of who is leaving the building at all times.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and organized process for student health and wellness. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
