Calvary Moravian Church Weekly

Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.

~ Psalm 96:2

October 18th is Volunteer Appreciation Sunday here at Calvary, and we are so excited to celebrate and thank the MANY helping hands who make the ministry of our church possible!

In our very active congregation, we know of about 65% of our members are serving both within and outside our church space nearly every month! And we know this is worth celebrating. From those who serve lunch at our local soup kitchen to the lovefeasts we have during worship, to board members who care for our building and all who enter it, to the countless others who help in big and small ways, we are so grateful for the ways each of them live God’s love every single day.

So, volunteers: join us for worship this weekend at 10am on Sunday to receive a roaring round of applause for your service, as well as a small gift that is a mere token of our gratitude.

See you then!

One: Welcome, neighbors and followers of Christ. Come and hear the call to worship.

All: We are called into fellowship, worship, and service, called to celebrate and share the good news of God’s love.

Come and be renewed. Find overflowing joy.

Let the abundant joy of our worship spill over into our communities.

Grow your compassion as you receive the Word proclaimed.

Let our compassion and love increase among us.

Let our hearts and minds be open to hearing the call of discipleship, the call to serve God in heart, body, and mind.

Let us worship today in heart, body, and mind. Let us be transformed by the good news of God’s love! Amen.

For the month of October our joyful noise offering will be going to the Crop Hunger Walk! CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.

As reminder, there are several different ways to give your offerings here at Calvary.

1. Bring your offering to Sunday worship.
2. Mail your offering to the church office at 948 N. 21st Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
3. Use your bank’s “BILL PAY” service. A one-time or recurring payment can be made by a bank on your behalf. Banks that offer this service typically cut a check and mail it to the church at no cost to you. Contact your bank for details. The bank usually asks for an account number. Just call Calvary office beforehand and Jess will supply an account number to you or just use your envelope number.
4. Make an online payment through the Moravian Giving Portal – https://mmfa.info/giving-portal/. Go to this link, click on our church’s name and follow the instructions to make a one-time gift or a recurring monthly gift. Donations can be made by members and non-members via direct debit of a bank account or by credit card. All donation processing fees for portal gifts are now paid by the Moravian Ministries Foundation – your full donation will be received by your church.
