Next week is teacher appreciation week!

We are so lucky that Tawanka has such AMAZING teachers! We want to say THANK YOU for the hard work and dedication you demonstrate on a daily basis! You are making a positive impact on our students and it does not go unnoticed. Thank you for making a difference!

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

- Nelson Mandela

A giant THANK YOU goes out to Mrs. Tryon & Mr. Barber for organizing another fantastic talent show! Our students shined in their performances and we are so proud of them! Some staff members joined in on the fun too! They traveled back in time to the 70's and performed to "Shake your Groove Thing". What a fun night!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!!!

Gearing up!!!

Some of our Tawanka students are practicing their running skills and improving their stamina as they prepare for the Sunset Challenge.

Autism Fundraiser

Our Autistic Support staff would like to thank everyone for the generous support of the t-shirt sales. The Tawanka community raised a little under $800 for our foundation, St. Edmond's Home for Children. St. Ed's is a residential facility for children ages 2-21 with profound intellectual and physical disabilities. They are extremely grateful for the support of Tawanka!

Thank you, everyone!

Mrs. Rothman

Hi! I am Mrs. Rothman, a Special Ed teacher here at Tawanka! This is my fifth year working at Tawanka! I just love how each day is an adventure in our classroom where we discover and learn something new! I am also a mom to two awesome boys! My family is my world and my classroom is my happy place! 😊

Grapes are Good!

Giant provided green grapes for students and staff as the healthy snack for April. They were delicious and nutritious! Thank you, Giant!
There were 70 students who participated in Math Challenge #13. The teachers with the highest participation are Ms. Wells, Ms. Atwater, and Ms. Mortimer.

Math Challenge #14 is due on May 4th. Good luck!

Tawanka's 1st and 2nd graders are working on painting their ceramic cupcakes! Look at all those beautiful colors!

Safety Patrol

Our safety patrol is made up of responsible 4th grade volunteers. They help monitor our younger students on the bus and also help during dismissal as well. We want all our students to be respectful, responsible and safe and they help serve as role models.

Mrs. McHugh

Mrs. McHugh’s class are working on their dragon eyes! They learned about value and texture! You better watch out they are watching you!

Math

Third Graders have been shaping up on geometry skills in math class. Ask us about quadrilaterals, right angles and perimeter. How is a square and rhombus alike or different? We know!

Wax Museum

Every class was successful with wax museum presentations. We read and studied about influential people and then wrote informative essays pretending to be that person. We had a great time using Flip Grid on our Chromebooks to record ourselves and present to classmates.

Second grade has planted our Pollinator Pod! It is located next to A-pod outside by the trees. We planted 14 plants that are native to Bucks County, PA. Some of them include mint, joe weed, and milkweed. Mint helps to deter deer that might want to eat the plants. The joe weed and milkweed are for pollinators. Pollinators are insects and small animals that help spread pollen from plant to plant. The pollen helps create new plants. We are excited to watch our pod grow and see what bugs we can attract! Feel free to check it out!

Mrs. Curtin

Mrs. Curtin's class was learning about our coins by using sock money.

Mrs. Reichert

Mrs. Reichert's first graders are discovering attributes of shapes during a lesson. Looks very exciting!!!

Book Club - Superkids Reader Edition

Students picked colored bracelets (pink, green, blue) out of a bag to see which book they were going to read, review & discuss. The book titles were "The Turtle Who Wanted To Fly", "It's A Robot!" and "Extreme Sports". They could choose to read the actual book or listen to it through the Superkids portal. After reading or listening to the story they had to fill out a readers response form to turn in. Finally, they met with their fellow classmates that had the same-colored bracelets to discuss the book.

Lunch Time!

Tawanka Kindergarten Friends are delighted to dine in the cafeteria for the first time this past week. They were respectful, responsible, and safe. Such awesome Empowered Eagles!

Some of our kindergarteners took advantage of the beautiful day to draw a landscape. They observed their surroundings and drew what they saw!

Mrs. Neff

Look at Mrs. Neff's pack of animals in their lovely animal printed outfits. This was part of our Earth Week celebration. The first picture is them transformed into "animal-mode", the second is their adorable selves.
