Partnering for Success: Your Child's Education Matters

We hope that the school year is off to a great start for your family. At Jefferson Elementary, we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is key to your child's success. We are excited to continue this journey together, and we want to take a moment to remind you of the invaluable role you play in your child's education.

**Your Support Matters**

As parents and guardians, you are your child's first and most important teacher. Your guidance, encouragement, and involvement in their education make a significant difference in their academic and personal development. By working together, we can create a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can thrive.

**Parent-Teacher Conferences**

One important way to stay engaged in your child's education is through our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher(s), discuss their progress, and gain insights into their educational journey. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to participate.

Conferences will take place on Tuesday and Thursday of the upcoming week. If you have not signed up for a conference, please contact your child’s teacher.

Remember, these conferences are a chance to build a stronger partnership with your child's teacher and to gain a deeper understanding of your child's classroom experiences. Your input and questions are important, and we look forward to a productive and informative discussion.

**Stay Connected**

In addition to Parent-Teacher Conferences, we encourage you to stay connected with us throughout the year. Attend school events, join our parent-teacher organization, and communicate regularly with your child's teacher. Your active involvement helps create a supportive school community that benefits everyone.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to your child's education. Together, we can help your child reach their full potential. If you have any questions or need assistance with conference sign-up, please don't hesitate to contact our school office at 614-478-5560.

Warm regards,

Mr. Schmidt

Book Fair Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is next week! Your child received a book fair flyer that shows books that will be at the fair and how much they cost. Please be aware that there is TAX so please round up a few dollars when deciding how much something will cost. Shopping at the fair is optional, but all sales will benefit our school library! There are other items at the fair, such as bookmarks, pens and other small items. I always encourage students that books come first, but please email me at hoare@gjps.org. if you do not want your child getting these other items or send a note with them on their shopping day. Each classroom will be getting two "you've been caught reading" tickets that will be given out by the classroom teacher. If that student receives a ticket, they get to pick a book from the fair and our library funds will cover it. Below is when your child will have their book fair day which is on their regular scheduled library day. It will also be open both conference nights. Lastly, take advantage of an awesome feature called Ewallet by clicking here. This is a cashless option and super convenient for families. Email me if you have any additional questions, thank you!

Mrs. Haringa - School Counselor

Our day-to-day lives are busier than ever. This makes it even more important to create moments to truly connect with those we love. Here are some ideas of things you can do/say to help your child feel good about themselves and your relationship with each other:

  • "Behaviors are the things you do. They are outside of you. I love you, the person you are on the inside."
  • "Nothing you can say or do will change how much I love you."
  • "You had a hard time at school today. I get it, I have hard days too sometimes."
  • "I love being your parent."

Physical touch - a hug, snuggle, rub your child's back, etc. - your presence and connection speaks volumes - even without words.

GRIN provides food to be sent home on Fridays for families in need. If this is something you would be interested in, please fill out this form and send it back to me. You can also email me at haringah@gjps.org.

If you have a social, emotional concern for your child that impacts them while they are at school and would like to share this with me to see how we can help support your child, please fill out this form. Family Counseling Referral Form

COVID Clarification from District Office:

On May 11, 2023, the federal government declared the COVID-19 public health emergency to be over. In this light, Franklin County Public Health has rescinded the Franklin County COVID-19 public health emergency. This update ended school districts’ obligation to contact trace and report COVID positive cases within the community.

FCPH and CDC guidance remains as follows: “After testing positive, you should stay home for 5 days regardless of vaccination status. After 5 days, you may end isolation if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without use of fever-reducing medicine) AND your symptoms are improving.”
