We Need Your Help - lets raise $50,000 to support our Global Excursions!

The time has arrived for our annual $5.00 Challenge Fundraiser! Last year we raised $30,000. This year we are working to raise $50,000 in support of our Global Excursions. Please support us by sharing the challenge with your family and friends. Our goal is for each scholar to raise at least $20 dollars and for each class to raise at least $300. We have some awesome incentives in place for scholars who raise the most money! So lets get to it! Start collecting those donations this Friday, leading up to our Challenge Day on February 7th.

Classroom Incentives:

  • We have met our $300 goal as a classroom so we will receive an invitation to GLA's Mardi Gras Celebration!
  • We are the class who raised the most money from our academy so we will choose 3 staff members to get pied and a parfait party.

Scholar Incentives:

  • I have raised $20 for my contribution, which is my ticket to "Pie A Staff Member" special assembly.
  • I have raised the highest amount of money for my academy so I will get to pie a staff member.
  • I am one of the top fundraisers in the entire school so I will be invited to a Knockerball Party & "Top Fundraisers Luncheon."

Collegiate Academy Incentives

  • I am one of the top fundraisers in my academy so I will be able to dress down for a week.
  • 8th Grade: Our grade group raised $3,000 so we will be able to go to Dorney Park.

School Incentive:

When the school meets the $50,000 mark, Mr. Copeland will let a scholar shave his head or beard at the Pie A Staff Member Assembly

Cholesterol: Keeping it Under Control Parent Workshop Cholesterol: Keeping it Under Control Parent Workshop

February is American Heart Month! GLA has partnered with Health Partners Plans to facilitate a workshop for our families that are interested in learning more about ways to keep high cholesterol at bay and support a healthy heart! Please see below for more details:

Cholesterol: Keeping it Under Control –

High cholesterol is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke. The good news is it’s controllable. Most people know what cholesterol is but don’t fully understand the importance of managing their cholesterol levels. This workshop will help attendees learn the difference between HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol), as well as how to maintain – or regain – healthy cholesterol levels.

Date: Tuesday, February 25th

Time: Noon

Location: GLA West Community Room

Counting Down to the PSSA! Counting Down to the PSSA!

We are 40 school days away from the PSSA tests! Our teachers and staff have been working diligently since the beginning of the year to prepare your scholars though aligned content and practice opportunities. Each year we roll out a theme to energize and build the confidence of our scholars. This year’s theme is, “Scholars, you are in control of the test!” We’ve started daily challenge questions for each grade to answer and race to the office with the correct answer during morning announcements. Teachers have incorporated PSSA questions into the daily practice of their classes. In April, we will have a pep rally, exciting scholars for the upcoming exams. Scholars know they do not need to be stressed, they simply need to show what they know. They are the ones in control. We are asking for your continued partnership in several ways:

  • Daily at-home practice through IRLA steps and iReady
  • Through talking with your scholar, build confidence and ease stress by reminding them of all they’ve learned
  • Daily on-time attendance so they can receive instruction

We thank you for your support!
