November 7, 2025

Dear Oak Brook Families,

It looks like the weather will be much colder next week (and in the coming weeks), please be sure your child dresses appropriately for outdoor weather. We will have students outside for recess and PE unless the feels like temperature drops below 20 degrees or there is precipitation. Also, labeling their items with their name is always helpful and keeps their items from being added to the lost and found when left somewhere and not retrieved by the student.

We will celebrate Veterans Day on Tuesday with our annual assembly. Please have your child dress in red, white and/or blue if possible.

As the holiday season approaches, Oak Brook will be helping families in need through our Gift of Giving program. If your family, or an Oak Brook family you know about, needs help during the holidays with gifts (or food and other necessities), please let us know by calling your child's counselor, Mrs. Terbrock or Dr. Shirley. You may also reply to this email. More information including the opportunity to volunteer to help will be sent home soon.

Next week, November 10-14 ,will be our Parent/Teacher Conference Week and the library will host the Scholastic Book Fair. More information about the book fair may be found below. During conferences, PTO provides dinner for the staff on Thursday evening. If you are able to help, please sign up using the link below.

Just a reminder...Wednesday, November 12 is a half day. We dismiss at 11:35. Please have your child wear his/her light blue Oak Brook character shirt.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Katie & Chris

Service

This week we will focus on service. We define service as contributing to the welfare of others. There are many ways to perform acts of service for other people, places and things. During the school year, we focus on service through our service learning projects and in our curriculum. This week we will also be focusing on service to our country by honoring our veterans at our Veterans Day ceremony.

When you get a chance this week, please talk with your child about the importance of service in our community. Simple acts like picking up litter on your street, at school, or in the neighborhood park are acts of service and are just as important as donating to organizations around our area.

Book Fair Book Fair

The fall Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Oak Brook November 10-14! Check out this Book Fair homepage to preview books and set up an eWallet for your children. The eWallet is a digital payment account allowing you to fund your child's purchases in advance.

Students will visit the library twice this week, first to preview and make a wish list and second to purchase. Here is the schedule of days and times your child will go. The Book Fair will be open to families during conferences Tuesday, November 11 from 2:45-4:30 and Thursday November 13 from 2:45-7:45.

The Book Fair needs several volunteers to help throughout the week. Please use this link to sign up to volunteer. In order to volunteer, a background check will need to be completed if you haven't done so this school year. Thanks in advance for your help!

Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Thanks!
