First Day of School!
Thursday, August 20 is the first day of school for students in grades 1-8. Our preschool and Kindergarten students will return on Wednesday, August 26.
School Hours
Please note: As a Charter School, ANCCS has different start and end times than other ASD schools.
K-8 students may arrive between 8:15 - 8:45 for breakfast. Yuuyaraq Gathering begins at 8:45 am. Students arriving after 8:40 am will receive a bagged breakfast to eat after Yuuyaraq Gathering. Prior to 8:15, students must remain with their parent or guardian. Please do not drop off your student until there is an ANCCS staff member on duty to supervise. Preschool students will be walked to their classroom by a parent or guardian at 8:30 am.
Student dismissal begins at 3:30 pm for K-8 students. All students should be picked up promptly at 3:30 pm unless they are enrolled in an after-school activity.
August 28: Blueberry Field Trip
Every year, our students in grades 1-8 venture to arctic valley to pick blueberries. This annual tradition is always an exciting way to welcome in the new school year. The first week back at school can bring a mix of emotions for students--excitement, nervousness, exhaustion, and joy. Getting out into the mountains and appreciating what the land provides for us offers a welcomed breath of fresh air after the busy week, time for quiet reflection, and opportunities for students to work together and become a team.
We will have blueberry field trip permission slips to sign during open house. All students must have a signed permission slip in order to attend.
We encourage parents and guardians to chaperone this field trip! If you are interested in chaperoning for the blueberry field trip, please complete your ASD volunteer form ASAP as they can take a few weeks for ASD to process.
Become an ANCCS Volunteer
Please take a few minutes to complete the ASD Volunteer application online. These applications must be completed annually and can take a few weeks for ASD to approve, so we encourage all parents and family members to complete an application now. That way, you will be approved and ready when an exciting field trip or volunteer opportunity comes up!
