The SHARKAlert Chatham Elementary School Community Update

December 20, 2024

Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,

The last week of 2024 has been full of celebrations from musical performances, special guests, field trips, indoor snowball fights, and classroom blanket forts, to an all-school pajama day, a national recognition, and two new principals-for-the-day! It was a great way to end the calendar year and recognize all the hard work our SHARKS have accomplished. You can learn and see more about many of our celebrations below.

On behalf of the entire staff, I would like to thank you for sharing your precious children with us - their presence is the best PRESENT we could receive!!

We look forward to welcoming students back to the building on Thursday, January 2nd. May your vacation be full of joy, wonder, and fun!

See you next year!

Dr. Kelly

Chatham Elementary School Ranked in Top 8% of Massachusetts Elementary Schools Chatham Elementary School Ranked in Top 8% of Massachusetts Elementary Schools

Chatham Elementary School has been ranked No.120 in Massachusetts among the 2025 Best Elementary School rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings include 1,560 elementary schools in Massachusetts.

The methodology focuses on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in mathematics and reading/language arts while accounting for student backgrounds, achievement in core subjects, and how well schools are educating their students. Student-teacher ratios are applied to break ties in the overall score. The 2025 Best Elementary and Best Middle Schools rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.

“Schools play a vital role in our communities. Parents want to ensure that the schools their child attends provide a high-quality learning environment,” LaMont Jones, managing editor for education at U.S. News. “The 2025 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings not only offer accessible data but it also provides a valuable insight into how well elementary and middle schools are supporting and preparing students for high school.” Parents, educators, and students can learn how the rankings are calculated on USNews.com.

Reminders for Families

Please call the Main Office at 508-945-5135 or use Pick Up Patrol to report student absences. Our classroom teachers are often unable to check their email prior to the start of school and the Main Office and Nurse's Office don't learn of the email before they begin calling home. Contacting the Main Office or using Pick Up Patrol are the best ways to inform the school of an absence.
