Care Solace Monthly Message
Since April is Stress Awareness Month, it’s a good time to evaluate your current stress level. Stress is an unavoidable, normal response to a change — even a positive change can be stressful.
Stress can manifest physically, such as:
- Aches and pains
- Muscle tension
- Digestive or sleeping issues
- High blood pressure
Stress can also manifest mentally in anxiety, depression, and irritability. These stress responses need to be managed with good amounts and types of sleep, food, and exercise. Saying “no” to extra responsibilities and “yes” to relaxing, healthy activities can also counter stress.
If you or a loved one are struggling with stress, we’re here to help. Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential care coordination service provided by Bullitt County Schools, can quickly find a mental health care or substance use treatment provider for you.
- Call 888-515-0595. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365.
- Visit caresolace.com/bullitt and either search on your own OR click “Book Appointment” for assistance by video chat, email, or phone.
As a district, we are committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you manage or cope with your stress.
Counselor Connection
The Kentucky State Assessment will take place May 10, 11, 12, and 15 for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Please keep in mind that it is very important that our students are here every day. Please avoid scheduling appointments during these dates if at all possible.
Encourage your children to go to bed a little earlier so they can get a good night’s sleep each night. Eating a good breakfast either at home or once they arrive at school is another great way to ensure they are ready to go once testing begins each day. I hope that you will also take time to talk to your child about the importance of doing well on this assessment. Remind them that they have been preparing not only this year, but in previous school years and that the assessment is just an opportunity to show what they already know!
Attend Today Achieve Tomorrow
**Reminder** When your student signs in or out on the binder in the foyer, you still need to provide either a doctor note or a parent note. Signing the binder is not the same as an excuse note.
