Superintendent's Corner
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at Brimley Middle School and High School. Our faculty and staff are excited and looking forward to a great year. We invite you to join us in giving our students the best educational experience in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
September is a busy month here at Brimley Schools. New staff, new students
and new initiatives implemented all make for a crazy start to the school year. But here we go!!
The first day of school is on Tuesday, September 8th. IT IS A HALF DAY. We are excited to have students back in the building and looking forward to working with your students this school year!
From the Desk of the Middle/High School Principal
Welcome Middle and High School Students and Families to the 2026/2027 School Year! We are excited to have students return and get back into all the routines, learning, and fun that comes with a new school year. Our fall athletics are in full swing and our Bays are off to a strong start to their seasons!
Attendance - Be Here to Succeed Here! The single most important factor in high school success and progress toward graduation is consistent attendance. If your student is home sick, please be sure to call by 9:30 AM to notify the office. We strongly encourage parents to call in for all absences. If you are planning a vacation or your student will be out for an extended period of time, please complete a pre-arranged vacation request form in the office. Parents can monitor student attendance in SKYWARD. Please discuss the importance of arriving to class on time with your student. We have begun issuing tardy detentions to students who accumulate more than two tardies in a week. We are eager to partner with you to ensure your student is here, please call the office if you have questions or need support.
Dress Code - As the weather begins to change, we want to invite you to take some time to review the school’s dress code with your student. We encourage students to dress in layers and keep a sweater or sweatshirt in their locker. Hats, mittens, hoods, coats, blankets, and other outdoor wear should be removed upon entering a building.
Student Drivers & Parking - All student drivers must have a parking permit. Students will supply the make, model, and plate number of the vehicle to the office and pay a $1 fee for the permit. The permit should be displayed in the window of the vehicle at all times. Permits are issued as a safety procedure so that school personnel and law enforcement can identify which vehicles are authorized to be on school grounds. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department will be periodically issuing parking citations to those without a permit.
Clubs - Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities including Student Council, Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, Robotics, and Key Club amongst others. We are excited for the leadership opportunities our students have to help strengthen school spirit and build a stronger school community.
Fall Testing - Our fall testing has been scheduled for Thursday, October 1. We are looking forward to our students doing their best; showing what they know; and providing themselves, their families, teachers, and community with an accurate snapshot of their academic progress.
Weekly Update - We will again be sending a weekly update via email to all of our Middle School and High School families this year. If you are not receiving this email on Fridays, please reach out to anoordhoek-bas@eupschools.org to get added to the list.

News from Brimley Elementary
Welcome Back!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer. On behalf of the Brimley Elementary staff and myself, I would like to welcome back each and every one of our students for the 2026-2027 school year. Office staff will be returning Monday, August 21nd to assist with any questions you may have. The first day of school for students this year will be September 8th, starting at 8:20. The doors to the school open at 8:05am for breakfast.
Teacher Letters
In June, all elementary teachers sent welcome letters to the families of their incoming students for the 2026-27 school year. Included in these letters were classroom supply lists. If you have any questions or no longer have that information, please call (906)248-3217 ext. 101. Attendance
Student attendance is one of the key factors for student success. Doors open at 8:05am. Please be at school and ready to learn each day by 8:20.
Allergy Letter
Due to a rising number of returning and incoming students who have severe allergy issues, we are requesting that a few select food items not be sent to school for lunches or snacks.
1. Any form of tree nut (examples: walnuts, almonds, etc.)
2. Peanuts or peanut butter
3. Any baked goods that may contain traces of nuts
4. Pineapple
5. Fish (in any form: tuna, fishsticks, etc.)
Avoidance of these products is the only way to prevent a possible life-threatening allergic reaction
We understand that this may be an inconvenience for some students, however Brimley Elementary puts the health, safety, and well-being of our students as a top priority. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach me by email at hclarke@eupschools.org. If a student mistakenly brings one of the above items to school, the school will provide the student with a replacement meal (hot lunch option) at no extra cost. If there are any changes to these restrictions, Brimley Area Schools will notify families.
New Staff Members:
Margaret Duffy- Kindergarten teacher
Leah Martini - Paraprofessional
Teacher changes:
