Verification and Student Acknowledgement Form Verification and Student Acknowledgement Form

Shared students MUST complete a verification form and an Acknowledgement Form.

Both of these forms are due within two weeks of them being sent out. Students who do not complete the Acknowledgement or the Verification will be locked out of their course.

The verification form is done in SchoolEngage - where you have done verification forms for your child's primary school. We will let you know when these are available.

The BRACE Shared Student Acknowledgement Form has been sent out. We want to make sure we are all on the same page with expectations and understanding about how our program works. Please ensure this is complete by Tuesday, Sept. 23.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

Shared students write exams at their community school!

Class Exams

Students and their BRACE teacher will pick a date and time and work that out with the administration at their community school to write the exam so it is proctored.

Diplomas

Shared students also write their diplomas at their community school! Make sure to check with your administration on where in the school you will write and any other details you might need! Be sure to bring all the materials you need as well - calculator, pencils, etc. Students need to communicate with their BRACE teacher and their administration if they need accommodations or if their plan changes.

When in doubt, ask! Make sure you imagine yourself writing the exam and go through all the things you need to know to write and then make sure you know all of those things!!

How To Access Moodle

HOW DO MARKS WORK? POWERSCHOOL OR MOODLE? HOW DO MARKS WORK? POWERSCHOOL OR MOODLE?

Almost all of our assessing is done in Moodle - including the feedback and the grade. Then we transfer those grades to PowerSchool and will add in feedback to support further learning!

There are at times discrepancies between the Moodle grade and the PowerSchool grade. This is because sometimes they just calculate things a certain way. There should never be a huge discrepancy of more than a couple percent - if there is, talk to your teacher!

So...

Moodle will have the most up to date information.

PowerSchool is the official grade.

Make sure to reach out if you have any questions!

This document informs parents about the detailed information the PowerSchool Parent Portal web browser provides about their students' progress.

Although the PowerSchool Portal app is convenient, it does not offer everything the web browser does.

Attendance Attendance

User uploaded image

Research consistently shows that regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve higher grades, develop stronger social connections, and maintain positive mental health. Conversely, chronic absenteeism can create gaps in learning that are difficult to close and impact long-term outcomes. Ensuring that every student is present and engaged remains a top priority!

Attendance at BRACE looks very different - we consider attendance to be engagement - seeing you in our classrooms, or logging in Moodle and handing things in!

Keep engaged and keep in contact!
