parent communication week of 9/15

Greetings Park Families,

We are moving fast through the month of September and the students are getting adjusted to being back into the routine of learning. We want to continue to partner with you to make sure your students are successful here at Richardson Park.

There are some things that are starting to crop up and need to be addressed. Attendance is a big focus for our school and district this year. Please make sure students are on time to school each day and stay the full day. We receive a lot of early dismissals and students are missing time each day from instruction. Students will not be dismissed early after 3:15 pm as we are preparing for dismissal and moving all of our students to their appropriate areas throughout the building. We are monitoring this carefully and want you to take it seriously as well. Also, please be respectful of our car line and the people that are out conducting traffic in the car lines. We have been getting some people being disrespectful to staff as they are only trying to do their job. We recognize time is important and when we work together the car lines move smoothly.

We appreciate your attention to things and hope to work together to have a successful school year.

Unit count

Every year our budget is determined by the number of students that are enrolled in our school. The final calculations are completed on September 30th. It is important that your students are in attendance so we can get credit for a true count of the students who attend Richardson Park Elementary School. Please make sure your students are here daily and if absent, send in an absence note. We appreciate your cooperation.

Choice Students

Students and families who choice into Richardson Park must abide by the choice policies in order to maintain their choice at our school. Attendance, Academics and discipline are the three main factors that determine a choice approval. Please make sure you are abiding by the choice policies. Excessive absences, tardies (lateness) and excessive early dismissals have become and issue. You must adhere to the district choice rules. a failure to do so could result in a students choice being upheld.

Car Lines

If you are dropping you students off or picking your student up you must use the car lines. The car lines go through Banning Park. You will turn right into the entrance of the Park and go through the round about. Our Staff at Richardson Park will direct you on when and where to go. We have an efficient and smooth process that when everyone follows the procedures we move through quickly. When picking up or dropping off, please do not get out of the car. We have staff that will make sure the students enter the building and get to class safely. Please adhere to the arrival and departure rules. A failure to do so can cause you to lose your privileges on our campus. We appreciate your support with this. Delaware smiles Dental Program

We just received notification of the Delaware Smiles dental program that will be coming to Richardson Park. Please see the flier attached for the details. You can register up to September 22 and there will be some leeway given due to the short notice. They will be here on October 6, 2025.

Vision and Hearing Screenings

We have begun our vision screening for students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th Grade and our special needs population. The school nurse will be conducting the vision screenings. If you child has not passed the screenings and needs glasses, you will be notified by the school nurse. The screenings for hearing will take place in conjunction with our speech team and in collaboration with the University of Delaware in October. More information will be coming in reference to this.

Exámenes de visión y audición

Wellness Center

The wellness center is currently accepting new applicants. There are health services, mental health services, a dietician, a Doctor on the premises once per week along with a nurse practitioner as well as, a community resource person on site. The services are free of charge and you must register to receive these services. You can visit our website to register your child online for these services.
