How Digital Citizenship guides our students
Right now, our elementary learners are engaging in Digital Citizenship lessons, which helps guide their online safety and ethics and into Maple and beyond. As we continue our video series that explores our iPad One-to-One program, find out more about what District 30 students learn to help them become responsible digital navigators.
Please click below to watch video and click here to explore a parent handbook that also answers frequent questions on our One-to-One iPad program. Next week, please watch this newsletter for Part 2 of this video on Digital Citizenship.
Important notice - ferilizer application today
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 is partnering with Bertog Landscape to treat the grounds on and around the Maple School soccer field. On the afternoon of Friday, September 18, Bertog Landscape will apply 20-0-20 fertilizer with potassium to promote turf growth in the roots for the winter season.
In the event that the application cannot be applied on this date, the alternate date of application will be Saturday, September 19. For questions, please contact District 30 Buildings and Grounds Coordinator Jason Borst at 847-400-8964.
Learn about matters facing our schools
All who live in District 30 boundaries are invited to meet Superintendent Dr. Tammaru and a member of our Board of Education to learn about what's new in District 30; hear about economic and residential developments in Northbrook that will impact our schools; and share questions and ideas about issues that are important to you.
You can pick from either the 12 p.m. session on Thursday, September 24 at our District 30 Offices, 2374 Shermer Road, Northbrook, or a 6 p.m. online session that same day. RSVP is required for online so we may email you a link, and appreciated for in-person so we can plan for space and send a reminder to participants close to the event date.
Please share with neighbors, as this event is for everyone in our boundaries – even if they do not have children in our schools. Click below to join us!
Assessment scores coming Sept. 25
District 30 will send your child's MAP (Measures of Academic Progress), IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) and ISA (Illinois State Assessment) scores to parents on Friday, September 25 by email. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Katie Kelly, Director of Teaching and Learning.

Wescott is required to conduct six safety drills during the school year. We will be conducting our first fire drill (unobserved) on Friday, September 25. Hispanic Heritage Month
Today through October 15, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

Social-emotional screenings start Sept. 28
During the week of September 28, classroom teachers will complete the fall SAEBRs screening to help identify students’ social-emotional strengths and areas where additional support may be beneficial. Students in grades 4 and 5 will also complete the MySAEBRs student survey on their iPads. School teams will review the results to help plan counseling and other student supports. Teachers will share relevant information with families when appropriate.
