North Community,

It’s the last week before Spring Break and the end of the third quarter. It has been a challenging quarter. Weather, holidays, scheduled days off, and sickness, have all led to a very disjointed third quarter. I am hoping that we get into a rhythm in the fourth quarter!

Schedule this week

We will have all block schedules this week. Monday and Wednesday will be odd block days, while Tuesday and Thursday will be Even blocks. We do not have school on Friday due a scheduled teacher work day.

Events this week

We do not have a very busy week at the Brickhouse this week. Our main event of the week is International Night from 6-7:30 in the Fieldhouse. We encourage our entire community to come out for this incredible event!

Building Goals Update

As we continue an emphasis on our Building Commitments, we wanted to give you another update on our goals scoreboard. The weather and illness going around our community has not helped our attendance rate, which also had an adverse effect on achievement levels this quarter. I am hopeful that good weather, and a healthier community will lead to better attendance and achievement in the fourth quarter!

Let’s have a great finish to the third quarter Bison!

Be a yearbook angel and help donate a yearbook for a student in need. This year the yearbook company has a "donate" button -- so you don't have to donate a full book price ($50) but could donate another amount. Last year we had enough donations to help 25 students get a yearbook. If you would like to donate, head to [www.yearbookforever.com]www.yearbookforever.com and go to Shawnee Mission North. Click on donate – if you’re donating a yearbook, use the coupon code angel. Thanks to all who have done this in the past and to those who choose to donate this year.

Attendance Reminder
“As a reminder: Please remember to contact the attendance hotline, (913) 993-6945, whenever your student is absent. Without a call, absences will be marked as unexcused, and multiple unexcused absences may lead to additional steps being taken to support your student’s attendance.

Additionally, after 10 absences, any further absences will need to be accompanied by documentation that aligns with the following reasons:

  • Personal illness. (Doctor/Dental/Medical appointments) The school may, with notice to the parent, require verification from a physician of absences due to reasons of health.
  • Serious illness or death of a member of the family.
  • Obligatory religious observances of the student’s own faith.
  • Emergency situation requiring immediate action.
  • Participation in a Kansas State High School Activities Association activity, a district-approved function, or a school-sponsored activity.

If documentation is not provided, the absence will be considered unexcused.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!”

Bison Athletics and Activities Bison Athletics and Activities

National Letter of Intent (NLI) now known as Athletic Aid agreements. We will host a spring NLI signing for ALL our student-athletes on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the FH. However, if a family wants to celebrate their student-athlete individually that is an option. In either situation families are responsible for hosting this event but we will help with set-up, student announcements, etc. It is imperative families provide the school at least two weeks advance notice if you host an individual signing.

Good Luck to our spring sports teams as they embark on their season
