Black History Month & the Power of Community

Black History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the impact Black people have had in shaping our world—past, present, and future. At Willard, we know that community is everything, and this month is a reminder of how people working together have created change, supported one another, and built something better for the next generation.

To keep these conversations going at home, we’re sharing a resource that highlights Black leaders, artists, and innovators. Check it out here!

With love,

Ms. Battle

African American Youth Achievement Award

Congratulations to Atiya for winning the African American Youth Achievement Award! She was recognized for her daily actions that pay homage to the visions and legacy of African-American pioneers. When you see her, give her a huge congratulations!

I am writing to nominate Atiya Alexander for this year’s African American Achievement Award. Since her entry into the school, Atiya has exemplified the qualities of a role model for her peers. She demonstrates exceptional skills in relationship building and consistently upholds principles of fairness. Atiya is not only supportive of younger students, but she is also very respectful toward adults. She works exceptionally hard on her studies and puts forth her best effort in all her school assignments. With her polite demeanor and constant smile, she is truly a joy to have as a student at Willard. I wholeheartedly submit this nomination on her behalf, as she is truly deserving of this honor.

Congratulations, Atiya!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held on:

  • February 11th from 4-7
  • February 12th from 4-6

As they approach, we want to ensure that conferences are accessible and comfortable for all our families. Our teachers will offer both in-person and virtual options.

Whole School Peace Song

At the end of the month, our Willard Owls will come together for a pep rally, and this time, we’re adding something special—a whole school song about Peace! Students have started learning the song in music class, which also includes a sign language component.

To help everyone join in, Mr. Molitor has shared both the lyric video and a sign language video so families can practice at home. We can’t wait to see our school community come together for this moment!

Happy 100th Day!

On Monday at 2:15 "The Kinders" will march up and down the hallways and into and around classrooms to celebrate the 100th day! A HUGE shoutout to the Kinder Team for making this happen!

TWI K-5 Family Survey

Estimados padres y tutores:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you’re doing well! I know how dedicated and supportive you are of the TWI program. On January 29, 2025, you should have received an email from the Director of Multilingual Services, Amy Correa, asking for your feedback on the TWI program.

Your feedback is important for her to continue to improve the K-5 Two-way Immersion (TWI) program. It is important that you share your thoughts on how things are going for your child so far this year.

If you could take just a few minutes to fill out our short survey, it would mean a lot to me, as we want the best for our TWI program. . Your feedback will help make the program even better for all of our students.

Please complete the survey by Monday, February 10, 2025. Here’s the link to the survey: SURVEY LINK HERE

Thank you so much for your time and support!
