NURSE'S OFFICE NURSE'S OFFICE

Class of 2026

Reminder to all parents of rising seniors (class of 2026) PA State immunization law requires every student to have a second Meningitis (MCV) vaccine after they turn 16 years old. State law requires the record of this needs to be submitted to the school nurse prior the start of his/her senior year on/before August 25th 2025. This requirement includes in person and Eagles Academy students. If the school nurse has not received documentation of the vaccine being administered your child may be excluded from school starting 8/25/2025. A reminder has also been mailed to parents with specific information. If your child receives the vaccine after the end of this school year during the summer please forward the documentation to the school nurse ASAP via email.

Please contact the school nurse directly with any questions or concerns about this requirement at: sderiggs@bermudian.org or call at 717-528-5124.

Class of 2027

If you have a child entering 11th grade for the 2025-2026 school year, they will need to have a physical completed by his/her family doctor. We can accept a completed physical form up to one year prior to entering 11th grade. Letters were already sent to parents with the required form enclosed. If you did not receive one or have any further questions, please contact the school nurse. A sports physical that your child may have completed would also fulfill the necessary requirement. Please remember that sports physicals cannot be completed prior to June 1, 2025 to be counted for the athletic physical requirement for next year's sport and must use the PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation form.

Reminders:

  • All medication forms as well as Physical and dental forms can be found on the district website: www.bermudian.org/services/health-services/health-forms
  • Look for summer mailing (i.e allergy, daily/as needed medication, inhaler forms etc): forms must be completed and returned to the nurse before the first day of the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Any medications kept in the nurse's office from the 24/25 school year needs to be picked up by the last day of school.

SAFE2SAY SAFE2SAY

Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.

Here’s how it works:

  • Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
  • Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
  • Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
  • If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app

Check out the website if you would like more information: Safe 2 Say

988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE 988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE

https://988lifeline.org/

988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

The Lifeline’s network of over 200 crisis centers has been in operation since 2005, and has been proven to be effective. It’s the counselors at these local crisis centers who answer the contacts the Lifeline receives every day. Numerous studies have shown that callers feel less suicidal, less depressed, less overwhelmed and more hopeful after speaking with a Lifeline counselor.
