Principal Message
Dear Parents & Guardians,
It has been another great week at WCS! This week, our administrative team had the pleasure of hosting a new student luncheon for our 5th and 6th grade students who are new to the Windham School District. It was wonderful getting to know each of them and watching them connect with one another as many realized they weren’t the only new faces in our building!
We also kicked off our Student Mentor Program for the year. Students have the opportunity to apply to become mentors to new students who join us throughout the year. I am looking forward to reading their thoughtful written applications and identifying a team of mentors who will proudly represent our school and help welcome others into our community.
Our Thanksgiving Food Drive is officially underway! Classrooms are competing to see who can collect the most items, and the excitement is already building. If you’re dropping off donations at the main office, please be sure to include your child’s name so we can credit the correct classroom. All collected items will stay local to support families in need through Windham’s Helping Hands. We are currently collecting stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Every item makes a difference, and we appreciate your continued support in helping our students learn the value of giving back to their community.
As Veterans Day approaches, we would like to take a moment to thank all of our veterans for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country. We are deeply grateful for the courage and commitment of those who have served and continue to serve. Your contributions ensure the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we honor you not only this month but all year long.
A big shout-out to everyone who donated candy for our troops this week. The collection bin was overflowing! Your generosity will certainly bring smiles to many.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Martin
WCS Principal

STEAM-Mrs. Lamb
Mrs. Lamb’s classes had an exciting visit today from the STEM-MoBILE — the STEM Mobile Biofabrication Integrated Lab Experience! This traveling lab brings the cutting-edge world of biofabrication to schools across New Hampshire and beyond.
Students participated in the BioBubbles experiment, using sodium alginate and calcium chloride to create hydrogels with mock cells inside. Through this hands-on activity, they learned about cell culture, biotechnology, and how hydrogels are used in real-world applications.
Grade 5 Gingerbread Houses
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Each year we turn our cafeteria into a Candyland so the fifth graders may create gingerbread houses as part of our Winter tradition for December. We are asking each class to donate specific items. In addition, we ask that each child bring a container that day to carry their masterpiece home (a shoe box works great).
Please find your child’s homeroom teacher’s name below to identify the product we are asking you to donate. Items should be brought into your child’s classroom by Monday, December 1st. Thank you so much for your generosity and helping us continue enjoying this annual STEAM project.
Fleet/Santo- tubs of white frosting (16 ounce size)
Clegg - mini candy canes or peppermints
Parsons- bags/tubs of gum drops
Serian - large bags of skittles
Misiaszek/Lizotte- boxes of graham crackers
Ditolla/Rice - paper goods (please use this link Sign Up Genius link to avoid duplicates)
Fuccillo- bags of small pretzel sticks (please no large or pretzel shaped)
We would love to have volunteers to help us on Friday, December 5th from 8:45am-10:30am (Snow Date is Friday, December 12th). You must have completed your background check, fingerprints and Vector training through the SAU in order to volunteer for this event. If you are available and would like to help, please click this link to complete the Gingerbread House Activity Google Form.
Thank you…
The Windham Center School Grade 5 Team
Lost and Found Table
Our Lost and Found table is growing day by day! Please encourage your child to stop by and check for any missing items. Parents are also welcome to visit the main office if they’d like to take a look. All unclaimed items will be donated over Thanksgiving break.

TECH NEWS
WSD Free and Reduced Meal Program
Free and Reduced Meal Options: We understand that some families may be affected by the upcoming changes to assistance programs beginning November 1, 2025. In the event of a prolonged shutdown, November’s SNAP food benefits may not be issued until federal funding is restored. Families participating in the SNAP program are considered Directly Certified and are unaffected by the shutdown through NSLP. Federal workers who are not being paid or have been laid off and need assistance should complete an application.
We want to remind families that applications for free or reduced price meals are available for any family who wishes to apply. Applications are sent to each household at the beginning of the school year and are available throughout the year at each school cafeteria, at the SAU office, and online.
