THE BEAR ESSENTIALS
Week of February 9, 2026
Hello Bear Families,
As we head into the second week of February, we are thrilled to kick off an exciting and fun filled week at school. Winter Spirit Week is here, offering daily opportunities for our students and staff to showcase their creativity, enthusiasm, and school pride. The highlight of the week will take place on Friday, when students and staff come together for our annual lip sync battle, a favorite tradition filled with laughter, talent, and unforgettable performances.
Please remember that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, as we observe our mid-winter break. We hope everyone enjoys this time to rest, recharge, and spend time with family. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, refreshed and ready to finish the winter season strong.
Go Bears!

Sending Student Emails Correctly
Recently there has been some feedback from students that emails are not getting to their intended recipient in the district. Google has recently added some extra filters in gmail that could be causing emails not to be sent. The technology department has identified some ways that students can make sure emails are sent correctly. The following information sheet and video can walk them through this process.
WPS Foundation Scholarships for Seniors
Seniors will receive an email from Mrs. Arminiak on Tuesday, February 10, with information on WPS Foundation Scholarships. This year, we are offering over $158,000 in scholarships. All Seniors are welcome to apply. There are scholarship opportunities available for those going to voc/trade schools, 2-year and 4-year colleges or universities. Progress Learning Make-up Testing
February 12
This is a reminder that Progress Learning (formerly Horizon) make-up testing for grades 9-11 will take place February 12. Students who missed testing last Tuesday, February 3, should arrive by 8:00am with their fully charged Chromebook and report to the LMC for testing. Students will be dismissed to class when testing is finished.
Cell Phones
As we begin a new semester, we want to remind students and parents about our expectations when it comes to cell phones. At RHS, students are allowed to have their cell phones, but they may not have them out during class time. Phones are to be out of sight and put away during learning. We know that phones can be a huge distraction to kids and we want to eliminate that barrier to learning.
We have spoken to students about this and could really use parental support. Parents, please speak to your student about keeping their phone away during class time. They can check it during passing time, before school, after school, or at lunch.
Your help with this can go a long way. We are already seeing huge strides made academically by both individual students and classrooms. We look forward to continued growth.
