Taking a Deeper Dive into Reading Fluency

In this presentation, Dr. Tim Rasinski will provide research background and definition to fluency. He will also share artful and effective and engaging strategies for teaching this all-important reading component including the Fluency Development Lesson which has been shown through scientific research to improve students’ fluency and reading outcomes.

A bit about Tim Rasinski...

Timothy Rasinski is professor emeritus of literacy education at Kent State University. His scholarly interests include reading fluency and word study and readers who struggle. His research on reading has been cited by the National Reading Panel and has been published in journals such as Reading Research Quarterly and The Reading Teacher. A former classroom and reading intervention teacher, Tim has served on the Board of Directors of IRA as well as editor of The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Literacy Research. Tim is a member of the International Reading Hall of Fame. In 2020 he was awarded the William S. Gray Citation of Merit by the International Literacy Association.
