Dear Garfield Families,

As we head into our Thanksgiving break, I want to share my heartfelt appreciation for our wonderful Garfield community. Every day, I see the kindness, dedication, and joy that our students, staff, and families bring to our school. It’s an honor to work alongside you, and I’m continually grateful for the support you show our classrooms, our teachers, and one another.

I hope the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday gives you time to relax, recharge, and enjoy moments with loved ones—whether you’re gathering with family, connecting with friends, or simply taking time for yourselves. Our Garfield family is truly thankful for you and your children, and we look forward to returning after the break refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead.

Monday, November 24th through Friday, November 28th is Thanksgiving Break and school will be closed. Please notify your child care provider of this change. We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving break and safe travels. We are thankful for you!

We want to share an important update about our passenger unloading zone to help improve traffic flow and student safety.

The unloading zone has been moved from the east side of the lane (near the bushes) to the west side (closer to the playground). Please see the photo below for reference.

Phase 1: Repainting and Safety Markings

Our district painters will soon:

• Repaint the green passenger loading zone and red no-parking zone

• Add clear “Student Loading” markings on the curb

These improvements will ensure that students load and unload directly onto the sidewalk, keeping everyone safely out of the street and away from the bushes.

Phase 2: Parking Lot Signage

Our main lot is actually made up of several smaller parking areas. During Phase 2, we’ll be adding A-frame signs to label each lot clearly.
Each section will be designated for:

• Garfield Visitors

• Staff

• Garfield Center

• Medical Therapy Unit

These new signs will make it easier for everyone to find the correct parking area and reduce congestion during busy times.
