OCHS Principal's Update
November 2023
Fall is Here!
π Senior Shout-Outs
Senior Homecoming
One of the long standing traditions for OCHS is taking class pictures at Homecoming! This year's theme was Candyland.
Senior Collaboration
Our fall has been full of successful moments. A great deal of that is attributed to the seniors that collaborate so well with one another, our staff, and the students that they serve. Here Ella Martindale, Kara Selken, and Bailey Denton work in Advanced Chemistry to complete a learning task.
Senior Class Officers
This year's senior class officers are:
President-Avery Bryan
Vice President-Kevin Mendez-Ruiz
Secretary/Treasurer-Jesse Droescher
π£ Fun Moments @ OCHSβπ½
State Golf
The following Knights qualified as a team for state golf: Myesha Larson, Kara Selken, Val Lierman, Emma Anderson, and Izzy Benne. The team was coached by Mike Selk and Anette Faudel.
FFA and O-C Foundation Feed the Farmers
This year's Feed the Farmers event was a success! Several students were able to bless our local farmers with a hearty lunch.
State Cross Country
Congratulations to junior, Dawson Meyer, and sophomore, Carolyn Magnusson, for qualifying for the state cross country meet! Dawson earned 7th place honors this season!
OCKD
The O-C dance team surprised the crowd with a fun Barbie-themed performance at our first playoff football game!
8th Grade Science
Mrs. Broekemeier's class is seen here working on a test. Junior high science students have a mix of skills and essential knowledge that is learned at each grade level. Students take a state NSCAS test in 8th grade, which our students continually perform well above the state average in both pass rate and average score.
Advanced Chemistry
OCHS offers a number of advanced and elective courses for students in the sciences. In addition to the three years of Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry or Integrated Science, students can take three additional in-person courses at OCHS, dual credit online courses through Northeast, and dual credit P2T courses in West Point.

π‘ Reminders
2. ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT β
Each Monday, every House has a lesson from The Social Institute, our 7-12 guidance curriculum. Please ask your student about their lesson and how it might affect their life outside of school.
Their Classes
Ask your child how their classes are going. There are going to be periods of time where your child has more homework and other nights with none. Taking time to ask your child about their teachers and studies can make a difference in their academic journey.
3. PARENT RESOURCES π€
